I just bought a new bike last fall.

I can't wait for the spring so that I can cruise the "Tunnel of Trees".

Google it - its a designated historical road that stretches along northern Lake Michigan and is right at my front door.

BTW - no guts no glory.

Too bad. There is a whole lot of life happening outside of the briar patch.

    Good posting.

Another thing about motorcycles that makes them dangerous when being used by novices is that bikes are extremely powerful when compared to automobiles. Almost any street bike will out accelerate almost any car from a start. And the sportbikes will out accelerate any car at almost any speed! Combine this with the task of learning to coordinate the things needed to operate a motorcycle and bad things can happen if the rider is not careful.

For the winter - come the spring I'll be back "Up North" at our Lake Michigan house.

You can accomplish a lot if you're willing to venture outside of the briar patch.

    >Motorcycles are not inherently more dangerous than vehicles just because of design, but rather they EXPOSE the rider to more dangers

A car is designed to keep 4 wheels on the ground/road when hitting an oil spill on a curve. A M/C is designed to spill and fall under those conditions.

Many thanks to the gentleman from Red Stick!

My grandfather on Papa's side got hit by a car back in the 1950s. The lady driving was too drunk to walk so she thought she'd drive instead. She hit him the first time and busted both his legs. The woman thought she'd hit something and backed up to see what it was. She backed over his chest and killed him.

Cameras can't fix drunks, texting, putting in makeup, changing radio stations or a myriad of other distractions. Folk just don't pay attention to what they are doing when they're driving. I do about 300 miles a day and I think my observations are valid. I've seen folk driving at 70 mph with a book propped up on the steering wheel. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've had folk pass me on the Interstate like their trunk lid was on fire then slam on the brakes and sweep across three lanes to get to their exit.

I'll quote myself, "Technology can't fix stupid."
