The red cross in uk has banned ref to christmas in case it offends other faiths. Now, what about the cross?

jonmagee--in the US Marine Corps' trek over the South Pacific in WW2--the corpmen found that the red cross on their helmets made for easy targets for the Japs--the Japs would intentionally target the corpmen wearing those red crosses--which was an international symbol of emergency help--so the Marine corpmen would take the crosses off their clothing---whereas on the European fronts--in just about all cases--the German riflemen and machinegunners (as well as Allied forces)would not "site in" on any corpmen/medic wearing the crosses--and would not set bomb sites on any building/MASH units bearing the cross on the tent tops--to do so would be in direct violation of Geneva Conventions rules of engagement--and would be subject to courtmartial!

Sad state of affairs this world has gotten into--isn't it!!
