I can take it or leave it.

I have dozens of Bibles, some with red letters, some without.

One thing I'll say, though, is that if a Bible is going to be a "red letter edition," I prefer the more brownish variety that Nelson was using a few years ago. It is easier on the eyes than the bright red stuff.

Red text, not a fan, but that's strictly my preference.

I like red lettered bibles. My Ryrie Study Bible is red lettered, as is my Thompson Chain. The only non red lettered one I have is a Classic Note Bible.

I can take it either way, but for a red-letter edition, I prefer a dark red; easier on the eyes.

Just to let you know...in the front of the KJ study bible it reads:

"previously published as The Liberty Annotated Study Bible"

    "Copyright 1988 by Liberty University"

Regardless of color, I hope we all should agree that all text should be "read" :D

    Good point web :)
To be honest, this is the first time I had ever even thought about it.
I think all of the KJV copies I had growing up were in fact red letter.

My NASB is not red letter but I had not even noticed until you pointed it out.
Since all scripture is God breathed, I do see a danger in people putting extra emphasis on the red letters.

You need to get one that has a deeper scarlet type than the typical red-letter edition.

    You sarcasm is noteworthy!:tongue3:

Harold, are you in favor of red-letter editions or not?

The KJV editions of the 17th century had no red letters to my knowledge. If you are so devoted to things which pertain to the KJVs then you should not like the modern red-lettering practice.

Does anyone know when red-lettering was first done in a translation? I would think it's a relatively new concept.

I just looked at all the Bible translations that I have here. All of them except the ESV,KJV and two editions of the NLtse have no red-lettering. (My One-Year NLTse has no red-lettering.)

    No red letters:

    TNIV
    NIV
    NIrV
    NASBU
    MLB
    NJB
    REB
    GNB
    GW
    Darby
    Weymouth
    Norlie
    Tyndale
    Phillips
    Message
    NKJ
    HCSB
    NAB

As you can see, most are American edition translations.

Wow. I wish I could my hands of something like that today! I love those colors!

It reminds me of the Rainbow Bible. Although it is colored coded according to subject. Does anyone have one? If so, do you like it?

My wife has a Rainbow Bible that I bought her for Easter this year, she loves it. I am red-green colorblind, so the thing would be useless to me.
