second the question, how do you know he is getting to know what heat is ?
how do you know he is in hell ?
for that matter, how do you know that everyone that names the Name of Christ is indeed in heaven today ?

    Just a couple of thought.

    1) I think there is a difference because we are made aware of it about an individual person.

    2) While yes we might not know someone from TV pesonally, we do get to know some things about them on a personal level.

    3) To your last point, we are instructed to pray without ceasing. I think many Christians do pray for all those of the world that are suffering or sick. It really doesn't take long becuase God knows who they are even if we don't.

Murtha was a crook and a loudmouth who thought nothing of slandering innocent Marines and destroying the reputations of our people in uniform to advance his own agenda. His self serving political positions are public record. It is good that he is out of the political arena, whatever the reason.

His spiritual condition is between him and God and was determined before he passed away.

Isn't it interesting that some have posted such callous comments?

A point worth noting is that Murtha was a bona fide hero, who despite leaving the Marines in 1955 - VOLUNTEERED for Vietnam. He was awarded a bronze star as well as the Navy Distinguished Service Medal. He served his country, and was not one of those draft-dodging chickenhawks that were so anxious to re-ignite the Gulf War.

I too pray for his family and salute his service to our nation.

    As usual, well written!

Hope you and yours are well, MP,
BiR (in St. Louis - and working harder than ever)

Murtha , the crook, on FBI video:

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Let me ask you now we're here together, I was under the impression, OK, and I told Howard we were willing to pay. And OK, I went out and got the fifty thousand. From what you're telling me, OK, you're telling me that's not what, you know, that that's not what you...
    MURTHA: I'm not interested.
    UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK.
    MURTHA: At this point.
    UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK.
MURTHA: You know, we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I won't, you know.

Ok - everyone can jump on me and say how callous this is...

How am I supposed to pray for his family?

    Does he have a family?

    Does he have a wife?

Does he have children or grandchildren?

    I don't have a clue.

If he has a family how do I know what their prayer needs are?

Everyone seems to be assuming that his family is sad.

    Are they?

    I don't have a clue.

It is possible that he had a horrible relationship with his family and they really don't care if he is around any more or not.

    I don't have a clue.

It is possible that his family is more excited about the reading of the will.

    I don't have a clue.

    Are his family Christian?

Should I pray that they be save?

If they are saved what would be the point in that?

These "so and so died" threads perhaps are not as meaningful as some wish to believe.

    Did he take any money?

And did he ever sell his stock in a company for which he was on the board of directors ahead of bad news, getting out before the price of the stock tanked?

In 1980, the FBI tried to bribe Murtha and other members of Congress by posing as Saudi sheiks. Murtha turned down the bribe that was offered, but appeared to leave open the possibility of doing something to help his district. He was named an unindicted co-conspirator, but served as a witness in the case.

IOW he avoided charges by testifying against the others.

Murtha said on ABC's This Week program in May 2006 there was "no doubt" that the Marines were guilty of cold blooded murder.

Lt.Col. Jeffrey Chessani- Board of inquiry found no misconduct.
Lt. Andrew Grayson - Not guilty on all counts
    LCPL Stephen Tatum- Charges dismissed
    Capt. Lucas McConnell- Charges dismissed
    LCPL Justin Sharrat- Charges dismissed
    Capt. Randy Stone- Charges dismissed
SGT. Sanick Dela Cruz- Charges dismissed

SSGT. Frank Wuterich- Charged with manslaughter. Not murder. Pending trial. The case is very weak. Odds are charges will eventually be dismissed entirely or downgraded severely.

Loudmouth Murtha slandered combat Marines. He never apologized.

But, as a D, he gets (got) a pass!

I have absolutely no problem seeing one like him, that USES others for his own personal gain, depart this existence.

I would hope that he made himself right with God prior to his demise, and I rejoice if that is so, but, AFAIC his presence will be missed like missing the plague.

And FTR, this attitude applies to ALL who willingly bastardize their power by spitting on and crushing those who cannot help themselves; D, R, I or whatever!

Now all you self-righteous hypocritical bleeding hearts, have at it!

I'm sure he signed a routine release explaining the dangers of that particular surgery.

I'm just as sure that makes no difference to a liberal. Always looking for a free ride at the expense of increased malpractice insurance premiums and healthcare costs.

That's why liberals hate tort reform. They don't really care if they cause the costs of healthcare to go up as long as they get their own pile of cash.

I notice as I perusee this thread:
No one posting indicates a personal acquaintance withe this public figure.
Some posting mention concerns for the family and friends left behind.
Some mention reputation and their opinion regarding his area of influence.
Some pose a question concerning the destiny of his soul, perhaps more to remind all readers of our own mortality rather than an assignment of his..... but, in doing so, remind us that the only opportunity we have to affect the destiny of our own soul is answered in the question as to 'what did we do with Jesus?
All of these are valid responses.

The rest are just bashing other posters or are bashed posters having to respond in their own defense. In both cases.... in fact in all cases of our posting , we are establishing our own PUBLIC REPUTATION ON THE BBboard.

When people die, they leave behind a report: some good, some bad, and some mixed. Some leave a good testimony. Some is unknown except to close friends and family.

Aaron, while I agreed that 'by their fruits ye shall know them'....... I do not agreed that we can know their time of opportunity nor the final disposition of their soul before God except that we know that it must be through the Savior to obtain eternal life.
