I do not know when the CBA adopted their present official position, but from what CBA pastors are telling me, some individuals in the CBA are attempting to rewrite their present Declaration of Faith to make it conform to their personal theologies. I most sincerely hope that they do not succeed in doing that because there are many of us in that denomination because it respects our individual scholarship as Baptist Christians and some of our most learned scholars and committed people would be forced out of the organization.

    CraigbytheSea,

You are being tossed about upon the angry waves of the restless Sea my brother.

Come into the life boat and have your rest.

Did Christ give to you eternal life? If so, then what part of it are you able to lose?

What the Bible teaches and what the church did dearly hang onto during her dark hours and the time of the Reformer's tantrums ad noseum until we now have multitudes of denominations following because they saw the physical provision and not the spiritual meat and are thus laboring for that which does not fill and yet the church still holds dear the promise of
Her Bridegroom to give to her eternal life.

May God Bless you dear brother to enter into the like rest which bestows all your fear, hope and joy on Christ.

When “WAS” it their official position and when did they change it? If he did state that it is currently their official position, he was ignorant of the facts just like a lot of people on this message board who are accepting the opinion of one or two pastors rather than committing their lives to carefully and prayerfully studying the Bible and the writing of God's people down through the ages.

Most people do try to add to the work of redemption they possess in Christ. This is what they do when they confuse a conditional timely statement of salvation with regeneration to eternal life.

Hard for me to think a denomination with a toll free number has someone who "was ignorant of the facts" answering the phone and answering question about what their denomination believes.

Apparently you have not read all of my posts in this thread. If you had, you would see very plainly that I am NOT being tossed about and that I am firmly resting upon the Rock of my salvation and His teachings rather than upon the false and most perilous doctrine of foolish and arrogant men who believe that God has given to them a truth that He denied to His entire Church for 1500 years!

    Dear buckster75,
Did the man you spoke with say this is their official position? Or did he say it was their official position.

If he said is that would mean they currently hold that doctrine. If he said was that would mean they did hold that doctrine at some point in the past, but would also indicate they no longer hold that doctrine at the present time.

Just want to clear it up, being a hillbilly myself, I think I know what you mean to say, others do not and rather than tell you why, they would rather use your words to show the negative and make it look as if you are proving their piont(s).

Hang in there brother, not everyone can attain to the natural use and understanding of the hillbilly dictionary. ;)

    May God Bless,
    Bro. Dallas

There will be plenty of time (an eternity)to enjoy our rest. Until then 1 John tells us our marching orders:

1Jo 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jo 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jo 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

    The question I asked:

what is your denomination's stance on security of the believer?

    His reply:

"We believe that the saved person is etrnally secure and and can not fall from grace or lose his salvation."

I must admit that is a sad state of affairs! An even sadder state of affairs is that there are Christians who are so careless in their research that they base their knowledge on a single telephone call! Is this really happening—or am I having a nightmare? Are there really Baptist Christians who are that careless in researching the facts and then so arrogant as to argue that they are right based on a single telephone call rather than studying the official documents of the denomination in question? Surely this must be a nightmare and I will soon wake up in a world where Baptist Christians have enough respect for the truth that they will carefully and prayerfully research the facts, collect and carefully and prayerfully analyze the data, and pray to God to help them come to the correct conclusion.

    Dear CraigbytheSea,
You have obviously not read church history.

It is founded upon Scripture. Scripture says by the very mouth of the Lamb of God that we are given eternal life.

If it is life, that is one thing, if it is said to be eternal life, then that is another.

Christ said He gives us eternal life, not the writings of men in favor of or against. This is the word of Christ.

How can you deny His word? How can you deny eternal as being simply what it says it is?

Have a look at those conditional statements that apparently make you draw back in fear and see their timely application. It would be a blessing of a calming Sea and Rest for you.

    May God Bless,
    Bro. Dallas

    Frogman,

You do not know anything at all about my university or seminary education, nor do you know anything at all about my knowledge of church history or the history of the interpretation the New Testament. Neither do you know anything at all about my faith in Christ and my absolute assurance of Salvation, for if you did—you would not be posting personal things about me that are absolutely false. This thread is not about my many years of formal education, the schools from which I earned my degrees, nor is it about my personal assurance of salvation. This thread is about two opposing doctrines, one of which is conclusively supported in the Scriptures as evidenced by church history, the history of the interpretation of the New Testament, and the very finest of New Testament exegesis; the other of which is NOT supported by the Scriptures as evidenced by church history, the history of the interpretation of the New Testament, or the very finest of New Testament exegesis. The scales are so strongly tipped in my favor that all you have to offer in defense of your precarious position is fictitious, personal information about me. I wish that the rules of this message board did not allow for personal attacks.

Once Saved- always Saved. Ephesians 4:30 states "And grieve not the holy spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption"

This is how Christ described the final Judgement in Mathew.

Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink?
Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]?
Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.

    The gospel is very simple.

    1) Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

    2) Pick up your cross and follow Me.

    3) Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself.

In Mathew 25 it says very clearly that we will be judged on how we've accomplished these things. Salvation is not a stagment thing which is accomplished one day long in the past without its having a life-changing impact on us. We are told that if we abide in Him He will abide in us.
</font>[/QUOTE]You are mixed up because that is not the final judgement, but rather Christ's judgement of the people on Earth in the physical real concerning their case for entering into the Millennium kingdom reign of Christ upon His return. It has to do with how they treated the Jews and Christians that were still on Earth during the Tribulation.

The real final judgement is described in Rev. 20:11-14 and speaks of the books concerning the sins of the lost, and the book of life. There is no such judgement for those who's names are written in the book of life.

So then, what are you doing in order to sustain your own salvation? A partial list would be appreciated.

I mean, after all; if you argue for the loss of salvation, surely you should have a more practical warning based on salvation experience.

Absolutely! Even pigs can do that, as both the Old and New Testaments teach.

    </font>[/QUOTE]Craig.
I would like to see pigs tell God that they no longer want to be pigs and that they would prefer to be another creature (1 Cor. 5:17).

    Ya, that would work.

    Frogman wrote,

Please stop posting this nonsense about me and show me in the Greek text of the New Testament where it states that anyone other than those individuals who are currently believing in and upon Christ have eternal life. Please also show me in the Greek New Testament where it teaches that our relationship to the eternal life of Christ is in itself eternal.

The plain and simple fact is that you cannot do this nor can any Baptist Bible scholar do so. The doctrine of eternal life is a non-biblical doctrine. Plain and simple!

    CraigbytheSea,
Nothing I have written is a personal attack upon you.

If you think otherwise contact the fellow moderators or an administrator of this forum and this board. I will abide by their collective decision.

Still, all the formal education in the world, all the finest exegesis in man's ability cannot alter the fact that Christ said He gives to US both ETERNAL LIFE. And further that His Father is greater than any man and none can pluck any of His out of His Father's Hand.

If you choose to remain in your bondage of fear, that is your choice.

Now, if you wish report my post to the moderators.

    But his denomination says different.
