    It will never happen.
    However, you should read "The Wizard of Oz" as it is a biting satire about leaving the gold standard for fiat money. (The yellow brick road, the poppy field, the emerald city, the horse of many colors, the wicked witch of the west, etc., all allegory speaking against leaving the gold standard.)

    You forgot the silver (not ruby) slippers and Mark Hannah as the Wizard of Oz (the one behind McKinley's election). The free and unlimited coinage of silver at the ratio of 16 to 1.

    I don't see it happening. Instead, you will see governments taking over food production, distribution, etc, so that the world becomes dependent upon government.
