Interesting, this word penknife in Jer 36:23.

It is a combination of two Hebrew words. The first is taar or tahar and means razor or sheath. The second is caphar which, when used as a noun means counter, secretary, or scribe.

This is the only place in scripture these words are used together and the only occurrence of the English word penknife in the KJV. The NIV translates this "scribe's knife."

From the context it is easy to see that this was some type of knife but not necessarily a folding knife like most of us think of today when we say penknife. I think the NIV does a better job of describing this knife for us today. I don't know enough about the history of folding knives but I have trouble believing that Jehudi had a barlow or case knife.

I thought you know the story in the OT. You read the OT. I am surprised to see your questions to me, but you are not aware of that story what I talked about. NCT understood what I talked about. I am sure he read the OT. I applaud him. :D

LOL...Try to deflect askjo. I acknowledged who you were talking about right after NCT's statement. But, with your usual "an OT prophet" and no straight answer who knows who you were talking about. You seem to avoid giving straight answers and listing your sources. Thats poor scholarship and representation of yourself. I do indeed read the OT as you state. The Bible isn't limited to just the NT for Christians, as you well know, I'm sure.

My feeling is that the truly born again individual does not question God's Word, much to the contrary, he/she delights in God's Word which is spoken of so much in Psalms, chapter 119 in particular.
The unregenerate person has a problem with the Bible, because it speaks against their sin, which is what they really love. So, if something doesn't fit, change it! If one says, "I don't like that passage", get rid of it!
Or, let's add to it, such was the case with the Pharisee's.
No, one will seek to alter God's Word because they are lost; and as such they receive the judgement of God.
