Why? Even powerful people in high religious office can be (Choose One):
    (a) tempted and fall
    (b) hypocrites.

Ha, if it had only been a Democrat then you could of had a discussion, but being it was a Republican the Calvinist will excuse him as "tempted and fall". Amazing,

Pray for brother Haggard and his family.

Isn't it interesting that this bombshell is dropped right before the election?

    at first, there was denial.

Now, there's admission about purchase of methamphetimenes and contact (massage) but no sex.

    Hoo boy...this ain't looking good.

I'm burdened most of all for Haggard's wife & kids. God be with them.

In the above story, the male prostitute makes this claim:

    God help us all.

    God help us all.[/quote]

A friend of mine once told me that in his experience, when pastors went to state Baptist evangelistic conferences, there were a lot of women "coming and going" all night at the host hotels. Not something I can corroborate, just a friend's observation, which he says he saw several times. His judgment was that the energy stored up by the hoop-and-holler atmosphere had to go someplace ... and so went to the nearest hooker.

I echo the sentiment, "God help us" if this is in any way true of evangelical preachers.

It is no wonder being how I have seen adultery upheld on this board as just a slip but will be alright after a little chastisement. Unbelieveable.
In our church adultererers are excluded so they can get right with the Lord. As long as they stay hypocrits then they can't be saved. Now I know I will receive a lot of rebuttal but its time and high time saved men stand up for the word of God and quit making excuses so they can increase their membership for tithes. Clean up the house of God!!!!

Well it would be nice wouldn't it, but we have some that are too busy condemning other people and calling them unsaved, because they sinned. Guess what Brother Bob . . . you may not like that this man is a saved man, but it's not up to you.

I pray that he will seek repentance, becuase if he does he will find forgiveness. However, if he chooses to remain rebellious that doesn't mean that he was never saved.

And those that remain in a rebellious state don't just receive a "little chastisement" and it's over as you suggest. I guess unless you call outer darkness for 1,000 years on top of what discipline is handed out in the here and now "little."

You are dead on that we need to clean up, but we need to support our Christian brothers and sisters instead of calling them unsaved. This man needs to be rebuked and I think he has been. He needs to be excluded until he repents, but you or I neither one are in a position to call into question his salvation.

HP: May I ask where you came up with that as a penalty for sin?

I was just listening to Petra's "This Means War" when I opened this thread...

WE are in a war... a spiritual war, and Satan has managed to take out one of our warriors. I echo the sentiment... "God Help Us!"

Let's make sure our armor is in place, because, brothers and sisters, we are in war.

    This Means War.... by Petra
Son of the morning - highest of all
You had so much going till you took the fall
Had a place in the glory but you wanted it all
Impossible odds but you had the gall
It seemed so unlikely that you would rebel
Such a worthy opponent that you knew so well
But you went down fighting when you heard the bell
Took a third down from heaven when you went to hell

    (Chorus)
This means war - and the battle's still raging
War - and though both sides are waging
The Victor is sure and the victory secure
But till judgment we all must endure
    This means war!

Then came the cross - you thought you had won
You thought you had conquered God's only Son
"So much for Jesus," you said in jest
Then you got a visit from an unwelcome guest

Now it's all over down to the wire
Counting the days to your own lake of fire
But you'll go down fighting for all that you're worth
To try to abolish His image on earth

    Faith:
    Non Baptist Christian
Atheist Darwinist evolutionist Richard Dawkins interviews Ted -- in the OP seen on the thread at this link --
    http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=890407&postcount=1

Amazing how the kingdom of darkness was able to use both Dawkins and Ted in that regard -- to help tell his tale.

    In Christ,

    Bob

Well said but keep in mind he is only wounded, not dead. Let's pray for his restoration so he can resume his effort on the front lines.

Yes, we should pray for his spiritual restoration, but he should stay out of the public eye. Hopefully, we will not have another Jim and Tammy Bakker situation where Larry King gets to poke fun at the Gospel by repeatedly interviewing Ted in his repentent state.

Ministers who have blown it like this, should get out of the ministry and keep a low profile for the sake of the Gospel. Then some have wondered why respect for the ministry has declined when, within a few years, they are reinstated as if nothing has happened.

drfuss, I agree, besides the man is no longer qualified for he no longer stands in good reputation with the outside community. I pray that he does/has repent/ed.

I must admit all the people calling for rebuking and casting out sound a lot the RCC demanding penance along with confession to receive absolution, particularly since initial reports sound like he is gradually coming clean.
