This is so exciting- and I'm not even Catholic! Any last minute guesses on who it is before they announce? I'm guessing Leonardo Sandri.

Thank you! Nice to hear people who are able to see the love of Jesus in Christians regardless of disagreements. Catholics are by no means ápart from God' (apostate). We have a personal relationship with Jesus and that is what matters.

However, I am cringing at the CBS commentators and the doofuses they are interviewing.

What if the seagull just caught on fire and they had to hurry up and make a decision? :)

The new pope is a very simple Christian. Lives in a small apartment, cooks his own meals, takes the bus to work. He believes in living a life of poverty as a witness to Jesus. A wonderful choice. God bless him!

I'm purplexed at the fondness of the Catholic church in here. If you are truly saved and believe in the Bible as the inspired word of God then this is in opposition to the RCC. Would you get just as excited in who the next President of the Mormons will be? I doubt it.

I think many Baptists have lost their way. Multiculturalism and pluralism has influenced the church and therefore weakened the church. IMO

Perplexed you might be and wrong you are. I am as much a Christian as you are and I'm a Catholic. I have no desire to be in any other church, if fact, I have become much closer in my relationship with Jesus since leaving my Baptist church for the Catholic Church. I love my Baptist brothers and sisters but their are some on the board that just can't accept the fact that Catholics can be Christians and love their Church and believe it to be biblical Christianity.

This may be a good move.....he is a Latin American(of Italian parents) so there are connections to both Europe & the New World....a Jesuit so I hope he has the gravitas to put a hurtin on the Homosexual under current. But he is 76 years old (wonder if they consulted with Luke --- probably not) but if he can throw the bum's out, that will be an accomplishment

With perpetual virgin, popes, infallible popes, tradition over scripture, transsubstantiation, purgatory, baptismal regeneration, baptism necessary for salvation, forced celibacy for "priests", and the list could go on.

Maybe they will put Francis I polo shirts out on the market....I know the Argentineans in my hood will be having a BBQ stake celebration this weekend @ the RCC, fireworks & the whole enchilada. I might just be stopping over there to convert a few of them. :godisgood:
