Of course, I do believe Romans Road is part of the gospel of salvation. We should use of Romans Road to witness people. But we should give person more time to understand the gospel.

When I was a student at Midwestern Baptist College. One student told me, he grew up in Gary, IN. when he was nine years old, he was bring to First Baptist Church in Hammond. He was baptized there. But, he said, he do not understand what the man witness the gospel to him, because he was witness too fast. But, he just simple believed in Jesus Christ then baptized. But he was not truly saved, because he do not understand the gospel. He finally got saved many years later while he was in navy in Philippine Islands. He said, his friend witnessed him took a time for him to understand the gospel, then became saved.

    See?

Numbers of how many souls saved mean nothing.

I do not believe the report of 15,000 souls saved during a single Sunday service during 'Pentacost Day' at the First Baptist Church. Because they witnessed 'easy believism' and in a hurry for them just say, 'yes' then believe in Jesus then baptized quick.

I do not believe every of 15,000 were actually saved. Because they do not understand the gospel.

Notice in Matthew 13:19 says, "When any one HEARETH the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it NOT, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside."

When a person heard the gospel, but not understand it. that mean a person is not actually saved.

I doubt that, every of 15,000 souls were actual understand the gospel.

Also, in Luke 8:13 says, "THey on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have NO root, which for A WHILE believe, and in time of temptation fall away."

Christ tells us, a person which heard, believed, received the gospel, for a WHILE - short time, then when the temptation come upon that person then fall away quick, because of no root(foundation).

I fear that MANY of 15,000 people are apply to Luke 8:13.

I do not agree with baptist's soul winning method like as A-B-C basic way to witness people by use easy believism.

    That is dangerous.

I believer we should witness with teaching and discipline to a person to understand the word of God, take time for a person to understand the gospel more clear, also explain to a person about the repentance of salvation also.

    In Christ
    Rev. 22:20 - Amen!

John Bunyan said, "The man who does not know the nature of the Law cannot know the nature of sin."

John Wesley got saved by reading Martin Luther's preface to Romans saying, "...saved me from the law of sin and death."

Compare to Romans 3:23; 5:12; 6:23! All have sinned. Most witnesses asked lost sinners, "What is sin?" all the time. Do most sinners understand what the law of sin is? What is difference between "what is sin?" and "what is the law of sin?"

    Let's discuss here concerning them.

This is why I preach "Law" and "Grace". Sounds almost Lutheran, doesn't it?

But we must show sin as it truly is, and the Law is the truant officer that shows us our guilt before God and condemns us.

Figure it will take about 30 minutes with very well educated folks to show the "Law" and my sin in relation to it.

BTW, in keeping with this thread, Romans 1-3 works really well in showing this!

    But it just takes time.

Interestingly, what did the SBC say anything about the plan of Salvation? What about the repentance? What do you think of SBC concerning the Salvation? Please look at SBC's website: Click here SBC

    Any thoughts?

    Askjo,

I read at sbc on gospel of salvation. It does not surprise me, about 98% of IFB people doing the same thing on soul winning. SBC is almost sane as IFB.

I do the same thing on soul winning. But, we have to emphasis on repentance and sin. Many soul winners seem not enough emphasis on repentance to people. They just ask them to 'believe' and 'ask'.

I believe Romans 10:9-13 is more serious with confess believe that Jesus is the Lord and call upon the Lord shall be saved.

Even Peter preached he told to people REPENT and believed on Jesus Christ, shalt be saved during Pentacost day.

Praise the Lord for a person becamed saved after confess upon the Lord, BUT, we have to immediately discipline to baby Christians to growing in the Lord, not let them draw away quickly become lost again. Many of us fail to doing it.

Discipleship is the serious problem among churches in America, we allow thousands on the way to hell.

DPT - IF truly born again believers WERE disciples, we would see a lot different result than the easy-believism and 1-2-3-pray-after-me that is passing for evangelism today.

When you look for numbers (whether hylesish ifb or SBC) that is what you will get - numbers. Souls genuinely born again? THAT is another matter.

So, what's missing in your opinion?

Would note the thief on the cross was not discipled but believed. Would some here say the thief on the cross was not saved?

The whole mindset of Judaism (theives were jews) knew of Law. Repentance (we are getting this justly, he said) was needed only as a brief reminder in the sermons to the Jews.

Later preaching of Peter/Paul to gentiles showed even greater need.

What is missing is emphasis on Rom 2, not just 10. "Everyone" believes -- it's in vogue today. But they don't see the awfulness of sin, separation from God, total helplessness and hopelessness.

Just saying "I'm sorry" for my sins really doesn't cut it. Modern "I'm sorry" is not biblical repentance.

That is what is missing in most RR plans and with little emphasis on the SBC site, as well.

    Hope that helps.

Would that not apply to both thieves? Yet, only one was told he would be with Jesus in Paradise.

So it was still easy believerism. Both knew the law. One thief believed. The other one didn't. The believing thief went to paradise. The other one didn't. The believing thief had no time to be discipled. He went to Paradise because he believed, through faith. It was the "gift" of God. Not of works.

And Jesus didn't even use the Romans Road plan.

See, easy-believism is predicated on BELIEF ONLY. Just say these magic words, no brain involved.

Biblical salvation begins with GOD regenerating the heart and giving both repentance and faith to believe.

We see in one thief that exact REAL thing - God worked in his heart and he repented and cried out in faith to Jesus.

    1. Jesus preached about the repentance.

Matthew 9:13 "But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. "

Luke 13:3 " tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent , ye shall all likewise perish."

Luke 15:9 "Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."

    2. Peter preached about the repentance.

Acts 3:19 " Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord."

    3. Paul preached about the repentance.

Acts 17:30 "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent :"

    4. Paul's soul-winning method.

Acts 20:21 "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

    5. God wants ALL to repent.

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Let's compare these passages with Romans' Road soul-winning method. Look at Paul's soul-winning method on Acts 20:21. Why did Acts 20:21 say that Paul uses "repentance" and "faith" for soul-winning method? Today Baptist soul-winners use "Romans' Road" soul-winning method, not Paul's soul-winning method. Ask yourself, Why?

    Let's discuss about Paul's soul-winning method and today Baptist's soul-winning method.

    Askjo,

    Amen! Preach it!

    Repentance always involve with salvation.

The thief on the cross have no time to learn growing in the Lord, because his death draw near as he was dyig hung on it. He just asked Christ, "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom."- Luke 23:42

I do believe that theif was serious repent and believed on Christ while hanged on the cross same time. Notice one another thief criticized on Christ, he said, "If thou be Christ, SAVE thyself and us." But the repented theif rebuked to unbelief theif, he said to him, "Dost not thou FEAR God, SEEING thou are in the SAME condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man(Christ) hath done nothing amiss(wrong)."- Luke 23:39-41 A thief realized that he knew that he was hnaged up because of what he done wrong things, and he knew that he would face the judgment of God with fear. That why he realized that he was guilt for doing wrong things. That why, he ASKED Christ, to REMEMBER him, my understanding what he was means, he asked Christ for to forgive his sins. That is what the repentance for. Repentance means serious sorrowly heart guilt for wrong doing, ask for forgive and turn around avoid doing wrong, and toward God.

    In Christ
    Rev. 22:20 - Amen!
