Hanks comments are almost comical...he derides the dispensationalist, (I would categorize them as hyper-dispies) who say the Sermon on the Mount was not for the church age, then makes this statement about Romans and the Epistles. Hank has gone over to the preterist camp and writing books about codes...I would be more inclined to say his writings are neither "to" us or "for us.:jesus:

Depending on where, "we" is used as in reference to Paul's jewish decent in speaking with other redeemed jews.

I appreciate that, but I was hoping you'd put the comment about Romans in context.

This is cetainly true, at times, I agree. However, since He also said this -
    and goes on to say
I tend to doubt this strictly limited, IMO, view you suggested above, as a possible one, here. Regardless, by including "we", the inclusion makes this a broader base, even if he is only speaking of "redeemed Jews", than 'only' the church at Rome, which was what I was trying to convey. These "redeemed Jews" become as much a part of the church, the Body of Christ, as you or I, so that would still give a wider church application, hence to all "the church".

John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

Jesus said it, Copeland interpreted it, that settles it:tear:

I think we can say that it was written to someone else, but that it does DEMAND our attention. I don't know how you can read it and not feel demanded of personally. Unless of course you (that's the metaphorical you - not the DQ you) have no personal investment with the One Who Inpired the Words.

(but Kenneth Copeland is for the birds . . . )

I believe it was the Council of Laodicea (Church of Laodicea) - the same which left off the Book of Enoch.

The letter to the Romans was written to the folks in Rome 2000 years ago

We---2000 years later---are to read and obey its words as if the ink were still wet on the pages!!!!
