Stating that The DaVinci Code film is entertianment, not theology, Ron Howard says if you are afraid it will upset you, then you shouldn't go see it.

I go to very few movies and rent very few movies. This one won't be one that I go to see or rent.

    "Upset? Then don't watch!"

Well, Opie Cunningham, I'm not upset, but I'll take the advice anyway.

Well, the reviews today haven't been so hot. So maybe the real reason to not go see the DaVinci Code will be because the movie isn't any good.

i agree with his comment, i think brown had the right to write the book, howard had the right to make the film, he could have turned it down, actors who wished not to be a part of it could have turned down offers to star in it.. people have the right to read or not read it, people have the right to watch or not watch the movie.. those offended by it have every right to protest as long as the do not impede or prevent others from watching it.. right now in brasil lawmakers are searching for ways to prevent it from being shown here.. i think i can sum it up by saying your rights end where mine begin..

You hear people say that this movie and others like it are just fiction so don't get so upset. But could you imagine if a movie was made about the Pope molesting kids or Martin Luther King murdering white people or doing something else evil? People would be in a uproar even if the maker of the film said, "it is only fiction".

Ain't gonna see it anyway. Do I have to touch a hot stove to know it will burn me? I strive to keep my mind on the Lord.

"...to think he used to hang around with The Fonz..." [IMG] Maybe the Fonz ought to remake The Ten Commandments." Let him part the Red Sea -- can you picture it? It's all in the wrist. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] "Heyyyyyy!"

I still don't get it. Its just a book and just a movie. It is not a theology lesson.

I read the book and enjoyed it - will see the movie someday, but not at the cinema.

On the other hand, some actors live in a fantasy world they think is real.

    http://www.thisislondon.com/showbiz/articles/22639469?source=PA&ct=5

"Earlier in the day, Sir Ian (McKellan) accused the "powerful" people condemning The Da Vinci Code movie of snobbery towards cinema-goers, and said he thought the Catholic Church would like the film's central idea, that Jesus married Mary Magdalene, because it offered proof that Jesus was not gay.

The actor admitted that after he read Dan Brown's best-selling book he thought it was "codswallop".

Sir Ian said: "When I read the book I believed it entirely. I thought Leigh Teabing had answered his case very convincingly indeed.

"When I put the book down I thought 'What a load of potential codswallop'.
"That's still going on in my mind. But I'm very happy to believe that Jesus was married."

Another sad post on this whacked out board. Maybe your Saviour was married and had a child but my Saviour certainly wasn't and it's offensive to state that he is or to even enjoy satanic filth that states that.

IF you want Fiction...watch Benny Hinn but don't entertain your ears to this garbage.

HOw can a Born AGain Christian enjoy something that promotes such HERESEY

    I agree with C4K.

Have you ever read mythology? Based on the reasoning above, mythology is not appropriate reading because it is also heresey. Ever read the Book of Mormon just so you'll know what it says, or Jehovah's Witnesses material? The list of acceptable reading material will become very short very quickly. We are adults. We have different things going on in our lives. God is using us all in different ways. We are blessed with different levels of discernment.

</font>[/QUOTE]Ron Howard was called "Opie Cunningham" by Eddie Murphy, on Saturday Nite Live, Back in the early '80s. But hey, I realize how the internet anonimity can make people think they know everything.
