Has anyone here heard of rugby? It is the game that American Football came from. I played it for two years a while ago. It is one of those Europian sports. It was fun except that I didn't like my coach at all. so I quit.

It is played in Australia in two forms, Rugby Union and Rugby League. Union is particurly popular in New Zealand and Samoa.

Rugby is popular also in Britan and France.

Yes doing that could well come back and haunt you! [IMG] The athletic abilty of the Irish is something that people in more than a few sports dont think about to there detriment!

Yet in Australia, Rugby is popular in only two states, wheras Aussie Rules Football is the national game.

So C4K, which is the most popular in Ireland, League or Union?

Union, I am sure League is played somewhere on the island, but it is insignificant here.

It is probably now second in popularty to hurling and gaelic. Possibly about level with football.

I think American/Canadian football started as a cross between Rugby and soccer, with a little police brutality thrown in.

What is the deal with the Helmets and Padding? Is it in case someone might get hurt? [IMG]

no i think theres a story behind it, like someone got killed in a game and they were gonna eliminate A football but instead someone came up with the idea of heavy padding to keep it alive

I knew some rugby players once. One of them had a bumper sticker that said "Give Blood: Play Rugby."
