Seriously speaking, if the use of sack cloth and ashes meant for effective answers to prayer in the Old Testament, and considering that God's character never changes, wouldn't its use today by individuals or in groups (of course in very strict privacy) also guarantee effective answers to prayer?

    1. As an Ancient Near Eastern practice, going down in sackcloth and ashes never gauranteed effective answers to prayer. It's all about the heart!

    2. Besides, we find no such practice in the NT. It's all about the heart!

Yes, I agree that it's really all about the heart. But if it's really all about the heart, why would they in the Old Testament, bother to wear such apparel? :saint:

It wasn't so much going around in sackcloth and ashes, but rather that momentarily expression of deep-seated lament and remorse, depending on the situation.

It was a sign of repentence, remorse over sin.

what, you mean as a way of getting what you want from God, as if, do it the right way and he has to give you what you want/ that would be the only way to guarentee anything. Kind of leaves God and His will out of the picture doesn't it. Imagine that, a guarenteed way of getting what you want from God, hum
