Imposible, unless it was made in the sixties or possibly the seventies.

That's neat, thanks for the link. I'd say that your TV was assembled in the US, maybe perhaps even from subassemblies made in the US. But the individual comonents were not. But, it's a whole lot better than nothing, and thanks again for the great link.

    CBTS,

Or, a Wal-Mart dominated rural small town...

When you are a lower echelon Blue Collar Worker paying twice as much to by US is *not* an option...

Spiritual mad man, I don't necessarily agree, although I see you point.

But, some of the "Wal-Mart" prices are ridiculous. Who needs to buy a VCR for $39.97, or a color TV for $59.98? It's not as though you need a dozen of them, or a new one to start each month. It's getting to where you can fill your house up with high quality junk with very little money.

Some of these things are, it seems to me, artificially deflated, even considering foreign wages.

That's OK. Philips is, I think, a nicely run company. And, I'd rather have my money go to them to deal fairly in the US than to the politically connected dirtbags of American industry who are making profits by gutting our manufacturing infrastructure and sending it overseas at taxpayer expense.

It may not be, but there are other options that even some upper middleclass workers opt for, such as buying better quality U.S. made goods in thrift stores, swap meets, yard sales, and from other purveyors of used goods. It is a matter of personal values from a Biblical, moral, ethical, cultural, national, political, and financial perspective. I fully realize that if an American family of four with a family income of less that $25,000 a year shops at Wal-Mart they can see a much greater direct benefit to their family than the loss caused to them directly by buying goods manufactured outside of the United States.

But from my point of view, there is NO EXCUSE for an American family of four having to live on a family income of less than $25,000 a year. All workers are entitled to be recompensed for their time and labor, whether they are working at McDonalds making hamburgers or working as the senior partner in a highly successful law firm. Is my time and labor really worth 20 times as much as the workers at McDonalds making hamburgers? I have degrees after my name, but does that make me any better than anyone else or make me entitled to live in a multi-million dollar home by the ocean while on the other side of town there are thousands of American citizens sleeping in doorways and under bridges because they can not afford to pay $750 a month for a studio apartment?

I believe that we as Christians need to re-evaluate our values, attitudes and priorities and bring them in closer alignment with the values, attitudes and priorities of the New Testament Church which the Bible teaches grew and flourished abundantly because they were generous rather than greedy, sharing their surplus with those in need, not by constraint, but according to the love in their hearts for others.

Hey, it’s good to see an Assembly of God brother posting on this message board! Some of my richest experiences in Christ were found in an old fashioned, Holy Ghost filled Assembly of God Church! [IMG]
