WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks or with Al Qaeda despite pre-war claims by President Bush of close links between the terror group and the then-Iraqi dictator, a Senate panel said yesterday.

Well then it must have been Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

It might be a good idea to combined the news and politics forums into one.

The two kind of intermingle anyway. The big deal here is that a Republican-dominated Senate committee is now pointing this out, which is a major embarassment for Bush, who had previously been loyally supported in that lie by the GOP delegation in Congress.

Now that elections are looming, a lot of them are starting to try to put some distance between Bush and themselves.

When one starts with a false premise, your point is self defeated.

No one in the Bush Administration, least of all the President, has ever claimed Iraq had anything to do with 911.

Odd then, that senators of his own party said that he did. Too late to backtrack.

    This is real easy.

Regardless of how cute Poncho's little cartoon was, there was no quote there where the President or anyone else in his administration said Iraq or Saddam had anything to do with 911.

If I missed it, please point it out to me.

Just because some people jump to conclusions and try to make something out of a statement that is not there does not mean everyone does.

The trick is to actually listen to what is said, and not let your imagination run wild to match your agenda.

All cuteness aside, let's have the quotes.

    I'll be waiting.

Bush Defends Assertions of Iraq-Al Qaeda Relationship

    By Dana Milbank
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Friday, June 18, 2004; Page A09

President Bush yesterday defended his assertions that there was a relationship between Saddam Hussein's Iraq and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda, putting him at odds with this week's finding of the bipartisan Sept. 11 commission.

The reason I keep insisting that there was a relationship between Iraq and Saddam and al Qaeda: because there was a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda," Bush said after a Cabinet meeting. As evidence, he cited Iraqi intelligence officers' meeting with bin Laden in Sudan. "There's numerous contacts between the two," Bush said.

The finding of the commission's staff led Bush's Democratic challenger, Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), to escalate his accusations that Bush deceived both the Senate and the American public about the rationale for war in Iraq. "The president owes the American people a fundamental explanation about why he rushed to war for a purpose that it now turns out is not supported by the facts," Kerry told reporters at the Detroit airport. "That is the finding of this commission."

    Carpo pay attention now!

    linkie!

bush used Saddam to fearmonger and meet the neo-con agenda of failure so carpo you could still weasel and spin by saying like a whining baby ...I didn't say he said this or that which I would expect from you since you are such a bush enabler and continue to hurt this great nation. but since in your snide culture you
put down poncho guess what poncho is on to something perhaps he has discernment and you don't .

I think that's enough. Anyone still in denial, is going to remain in denial regardless of the evidence.

    You guys are really weak.

    Any quotes?

    I'm still waiting.

It's put up or shut up time.

Of course I know you can't "put up" and you won't shut up. But you can , if you wish, continue to make fools of yourselves.

First question: What would look more foolish us "guys" being goaded into acting as if there are exact quotes that we knew all along didn't exist or you altogether and completely missing the whole point of Fiore's animation?

Next question: Who was that masked strawman anyway?
