I will admit that Berger doesn't have much credibility. But lack of credibility doesn't seem to keep people's mouths shut (or keep them out of Washington either).

Berger should be listened to? NOT for a second. If the judicial system weren't broken he'd be in prison.

Berger's not the only one saying it; many retired officers are worried.

Andrew Krepinevich said as much last month in a Pentagon-funded report — the conclusion of which, of course, the Pentagon roundly denied.

Regardless of who says it, it is undeniable that the Bush administration has overextended our military in Iraq and has left us vulnerable to being unable to respond if a major situation requiring our military pops up elsewhere.

Berger is following the lead of other cut and run advocates with his own empty rhetoric.

The word "broken" when used by liberals and applied to our military forces is meant to imply "broken" in spirit and unable to carry out their mission.

It's an outright fabrication and an insult to everone who wears the uniform.

General Ken, are you like that other General from Arkansas who switched parties when he decided he wanted to run for president, the one who got dumped from NATO?

    Ken,

How many people worldwide are members of the United States Military? You keep saying we are overextended, yet I am thinking that only a fraction of the military is actually in a combat zone if the truth be told.

    Ken,

Nevermind. Found the answer mtself on Wikipedia. I was right. There is but a fraction of our military personel in a warzone today:

"Approximately 1.4 million personnel are currently on active duty in the military with an additional 860,000 personnel in the seven reserve components (456,000 of which are in the Army and Air National Guard). There is currently no conscription. The armed forces are also members of the United States Uniformed Services. The United States Military is considered the most powerful military in the world because their power projection capabilities are unrivaled by any other singular nation (e.g. People's Republic of China, Russia, India) or organization (e.g. the European Union). The United States Department of Defense is the controlling organization for the U.S. military and is headquartered at The Pentagon. The Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. military is the President of the United States. With a strength of 2.26 million personnel (including reserves), the United States armed forces are the 3rd largest in the world."

I also found it interesting the other night, I was watching H&C on Fox, and Colmes was showing some interviews he did with some retired military folks who said they agreed with Murtha on his positions about the military until he started actually quoting some of the things Murtha said, like our military is broken. The all disagreed with him on that and acknowledged that we have a strong military that would not be beaten.

Don't sweat it Ken, we can always promise illegal immigrants citizenship for their service in the globalist imperial military and then there are the mercenaries.

Of course if you watch the propagandists on the H&C misdirection hour. Then all is fine and it's just a matter of blood, money, and sticking to the plan. The plan being of course world domination of natural resourses and bringing all governments in line with and under the control of the global tyranny.

Harmonized, sustainable, diversified (balkanized), biodiversified (land grab) and all controlled by the elite in other words. ;)

Poncho, You should move to Montana and start a militia group. You already have the lingo down pat.

I'd have to disagree Hardsheller. My lingo is far from perfected but I keep working on it and getting the facts straighter everyday. I do however think my diatribes are begining to come together in a more usable form. [IMG]

Learning about those different isms and reading all those documents gave me a whopper of a headache BTW. If that's any consolation. ;)

    BUT,

    2. No, we don't have to have them since the original premise of Murtha and Berger is idiotic and wrong because we are not even close to being broken nor overextended.

The American Military has 2.26 million people with somewhere around 250,000 actually deployed to a warzone in Iraq and Afganistan. They are hardly broken or overextended.

    3. We are not an imperialist military.

Sorry Joseph but all the facts do not bare true witness to that. Besides it isn't really our military. It was taken over by the corporate/globalists long long ago when they started using it for their own interest protection and coercion service.

Face it brother our government and their benefactors (Wallstreet) have been ruling the world like the Corleone and Bonano crime families using our military to enrich themselves. [IMG]

Enlighten us with the facts that show our military of 2.26 million is broken and overextended. This ought to be good. How long do you think he can go before we see some crazy conspiracy theory website? :D

Just one thing, Poncho: Show me how a military that has a quarter of a million deployed in a warzone out of over 2 million possible personel is broken or overextended. We will deal with the imperialist charge much later and perhaps in a different thread since the topic of this thread really deals with whether or not Murtha and Berger's false claims that our military is broken and overextended.
