The Catholic League, a civil rights group, is fuming mad over comments made by talk radio star Michael Savage last week.

In a broadacst on March 28, Savage, the nation's third most listened to radio talk show host, slammed the Catholic Church for helping to organize recent mass protests of illegal immigrants.

According to a transcript published by the Catholic League, Savage said:

"It is a pig story! It’s animal farm all over again. And also make no bones about it, it’s the greedy Catholic Church that was behind it because the people of America walked away from the molesters’ dens and they need to bring in people from the Third World who are still gullible enough to sit there and listen to the molesters ... the Roman Catholic Church was behind this, the Roman Catholic Church started this a year ago. The Roman Catholic Church flooded the streets because they cannot get parishioners anymore amongst educated white people who have caught onto the racket and instead they need to import dummies to sit in the church pews. That’s the story and it is not difficult for you to understand — I’m telling you the truth. It’s all about greed. It’s greed at the top of the Catholic Church.

"Make no mistake about why this is happening," Savage continued. "This has nothing to do with compassion for Mexican workers. This has nothing to do with fairness for Mexican workers — it has to do with the greed ... That’s all there is to it. And that includes the Catholic Church pigs. And if you don’t like it, don’t listen to the show — I really don’t care anymore. I’m not going to be duped by this sanctimonious garbage that all churches are good and that the institution itself is good. Bah humbug. The institution is rotten from the top to the bottom."

An outraged Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, has demanded an apology.

"I was scheduled to be on with Mike Savage the day he savaged the Catholic Church and made bigoted comments about Latinos," Donohue said.

"But in the pre-interview — which occurred just a half hour before Savage went ballistic — I let a producer know that I did not share the host’s position; after he checked with Savage, I was told they would not have me on the show. That was fine, but what is not fine is Savage’s diatribe about the ‘greedy pigs’ in the Catholic Church and how ‘the institution is rotten from the top to the bottom.’ He owes all Catholics an apology.”

Excuse me...but when is the Catholic Church going to give America and the world an apology for their false doctrines, the support of child molestors, and the ensuing cover-up without having to be dragged into court?

I don't like nor agree with some of the things Savage said...but this is certainly no time for the high and mighty Catholic Church to get sanctimonious and offended.

One of the sadder days of my life is when he asked X.M. Radio to stop broadcasting his program.

I have posted twice, in the past, on how the RCC endorses full-blown pagan idolatry in their Latin-American churches. Took a beating both times, but stand by it. Savage could be right-on about this, as well. Time will tell.

    Curtis,

You better believe it. And its just just there...its world wide, including the USA.

And why do they do it?

Its never changed since Constantine 1st invented the Catholic Church of Rome...

"Give the people what they want, then twist the scriptures to support it".

    Then...

"Convince them that hell is their doom if they ever leave "Holy Mother Church"."

    Bingo. (pun intended)

They've got the people "hook line and sinker", and the people are rendered too fearful to ever leave.

And that equals...absolute job security and the guarentee of wealth.

    How sad it is.

And by the way, I'm not saying the Catholic Hiearchial members sit around and speak of this in the same language I am using. Of course they dont.

In their minds they have chosen to "religionise" all of this as to make it palpable, and also seemingly religiously true.

...To everyone except those who have the willingness and ability to compare Catholicism against the truth of the scriptures, Gods unchanging truth standard.

    Mike

Let's not focus on the bigots and the hypocrites. They will always be with us. There are probably as many Baptist-haters in the RCC as there are Baptists who hate.

But we don't need to take part in it.

The Lord Jesus Christ had absolutly nothing to do with creating this world wide monstrocity filled with idolatry, heresy, and blashphemy known as the Catholic Church. His participation in the Catholic Church consists of (for the most part) prophesying...from the outside...to those trapped in it, saying "Come out of her my people".

    God bless,

    Mike

The Catholic Church was created by Christ

If you believe this lie, the rest of them fall right into place.

He that holds not this unity of the Church, does he think that he holds the faith? He who deserts the chair of Peter, upon whom the Church is founded, is he confident that he is in the Church?"

Yup. Jesus saved me, not Peter.

No, it brings to light an important point: if we're going to hold one group of confessing Christians accountable for all of history, then we are all accouontable for our individual denomination's historical mistakes.

Protestant Christians haven't been blameless, especially here in the South. Editing away negative comments doesn't remove the stain.

Donohue's statement is suspect because Savage never interviews people hostile to his position as guests on his show. I've never heard one.

It's good that Savage has publically pinned the blame on the RCC, that way few of his listeners will be looking at NCLR's Board of advisors.

First, just curious the reference of Savage being the 3rd most listen to show. Glen Beck states he is the third most listen to show.

Second, you can be critical of a group without sounding like a jerk (as Savage often does)

As Christians, we need to balance our love of country with our Christian Life. I do believe that there should be controls on immigrants, but remember, the illegals and (most) Roman Catholics need to be saved.

Dont know about the Spiritual condition of Mike Savage, but he is on the prayer list also.

Just want to let it be known that what was edited out of my post was a quote from a Catholic apologist, not anything that I posted in response.

I kinda wish mods would make that clear when they edit something out. [IMG]

Of course I wish nothing but personal attacks and profanity where edited out, but the person who started this website has the right to want it done his way.

    Blessings,

    Mike

We have a man in our church was is from Texas, and his father was a preacher there, and every summer they spent the whole summer in Mexico doing mission work when he was growing up. He said that the RCC there is very pagan, support the voodoo type practices and even participate in them as part of their worship as a means of making people feel as if they are a part of the RCC and do not have to give up the paganism they were raised with. They just incorporate it.
I agree with Joseph, the RCC has sent perverts out to molest children and protect the perverts and act as if nothing happened and they are not responsable for it all, all without appology. They've got nothing to say about anyone else.

Speaking of the Catholic Church getting sanctimonious and offended, I read an article about the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) criticizing one of the James Bond films, Die Another Day (2002), because "British Agent 007 has not mended his womanizing ways since the first Bond movie 'Dr. No' in 1962. He is still into casual sex/promiscuity with willing partners" Mirand Frost (Rosamund Pike) and co-agent from another agency Jinx (Halle Berry)," the CBCP film review body Catholic Initiative for Enlightened Movie Appreciation (Cinema) said.

    http://www.newsflash.org/2002/11/hl/hl017049.htm

When I read the article, I had to laugh. I think it was very hypocritical of them to criticize that movie. While I don't condone sleeping around, at least James Bond sleeps with willing adults of the opposite sex, which can't be said about some of their priests. As a matter of fact, in an earlier Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only," there was a scene in which a teenaged girl threw herself at James Bond (played by Roger Moore), and he actually resisted her advances. If only their priests would show more restraint.

I will not defend to RCC's abuses, which unfortunately are many. But I hope not very many Christians take Savage seriously. He is offensive and insensitive across the board. What do you think Jesus would say about Michael Savage's show?

Quite frankly, I don't think it would even matter to Savage. I wonder how many insults he would hurl at Jesus if Christ were to physically appear and rebuke his hatred himself.

I don't have a high opinion of Michael Savage. He is way too extreme.
