Do the Southern Baptists own the arena in which the San Antonio Spurs play basketball? Watched the game and the logo on the floor said SBC and the commentators referred to it as the SBC center.

Not a joke. I just don't know, but understand the SBC is big in Texas!

SBC is a big energy company, not the convention. Now if it was a football stadium...

Only thing Baptists would own is a KFC franchise [IMG]

When they got naming rights for the new arena in San Antonio, a friend of mine and I came up with a list of arena features if the REAL SBC owned it. I gotta find it where I saved it on disk. Hysterically funny. For instance, all seating would be confined to the back six rows...halftime entertainment: a Choir special... [IMG]

    Let's carry this on, Tom...

    NO women coaches.
No "high fives" (looks like raising hands)
Foreign players must speak English (no "tongues" allowed)
No dancing. Cheerleaders must be fully covered--and ugly.
No games on Sunday or Wednesday night.
Referees must sign BF and M (2000 revision).
    NO beer.

One more big one--25,000 season ticket holders, but average 12,500 attendance...

Actually, it is not an energy company. It is a telephone/telecommunications company, Southwestern Bell Communications -- one of the "baby Bells" from the breakup of AT&T.

OK, well there is electricity and there are wires... They have good commercials... Then again, there was that company from Houston with neat commercials... What was their name... End Run? Anyway, you're right.

    Ooooo! One more!

Everyone has to stay 20 minutes after the game is over while "Just As I Am" is played on the arena pipe organ.

    And...

An offering will be taken up at every half-time (or during the 7th inning stretch) [IMG]

Likewise, twice per year special offerings will be taken up (one where all proceeds go directly to the home team and one where all proceeds go directly to the foreign team) [IMG]

A committee will be formed for every possible aspect of running the facility (where they will be required to endlessly discuss the issues without actually doing what they have been tasked to do) :D

The Assistant Coaches will periodically get together to vote to replace the head coach.

And the Wife of the chairman of the assistant coaches will really run the team.

A fairly large extended family will become season ticket holders and begin to act as if the own the place. :D

They will even begin to tell the coaches what to do and determine when choaches are hired and fired. ;)

The funny thing is that the coaches will allow this large extended family to behave like this and not remind them that "Mr. Big" actually is the head of the Arena.

There will be approximately 16 million season ticket holders throughout the league; however, the various management groups will only be able to locate about 8 million or so. ;)

Some of the regular SBC Arena season ticket holders will believe, regardless of all season ticket holders scattered throughout the world-wide leagues, that they are the only ones who get to attend the Superbowl/World Series. :D

A small but vocal minority group of season ticket holders will want to throw the first 11 chapters of the first book of the offical rule book out the window! :D

SBC is is not necessarily Southern Baptist Convention, but it is also a communications company.
