Whatever, Hardsheller. But lots and lots of your tax money is going to go into helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina and rebuilding their homes, including in New Orleans - for all races of people. So you might as well get used to it.

    Ken,

Are you accusing me of being a racist? Where did your comments come from? I have never said I didn't support Federal Dollars being spent on rebuilding N.O.

All I said was this mayor is a dud. And I stand by my words. The guy had responsibilities that he hasn't lived up to. Put the Big blame where the Big blame belongs on the NO Mayor and the LA Gov.

No, I am not accusing you, Hardsheller, or anyone else of being a racist. I apologize if it came across that way.

I was merely pointing out that the aid will not only be going to the middle class families with nice homes but it will be going to those who were too poor to even leave New Orleans, who are mainly black, based on watching the televised reports.

    From Hardsheller:

"All I said was this mayor is a dud. And I stand by my words. The guy had responsibilities that he hasn't lived up to. Put the Big blame where the Big blame belongs on the NO Mayor and the LA Gov."

I just recently saw on the news the NO Mayor. It didn't look like he was accepting any blame and his language was filthy, even as far as using the Lord's name in vain. The tv showed the sound bite and did not bleep over that part.

I know he is under a lot of pressure and he is probably a very nice man in normal situations. But it is in times of crisis that you can test the metal of what a person is made of.

Just as the thugs were in control up until now. Now that the big boys are in town, I am sure they will be cowering, trying to blend in because they are such cowards. I cannot even put into verbage how I feel about those thugs/cowards. Doing this kind of terrorism in their OWN city to their OWN neighbors. As a matter of fact, they should get treated like any other terrorist. Hopefully, that WILL happen. I hate to think of them being transported to other cities and hooking up with others of their ilk.

It would have been better to load the people who went to the Superdome onto buses and carried them at least 50-100 miles north. At least they would have been on dry land where aid could get to them easier.

People are going to switch political sides here so that they can be on the winning side. Bush stood by the director of FEMA so it looks as if Bush will be blamed personally and the religious right will desert him.

I saw people the day before the hurricane was to hit walking down Bourbon Street having a great time, buying things and drinking plenty of beer. Now, if they had the money for that, they had the money to leave. The chose to stay. They made a terrible decision. When I make I terrible decision, I have consequences to pay. Right now, theirs is horrible. Hopefully, the next time they hear about a hurricane, they will get out of the way of the storm.

Yeah. I'm sure Kerry would have held the levee together.

I am still glad I voted for the man.

Oh, I have no problem with my vote for Bush last November vs. Kerry. But if Bush was running again, which he can't, I would not vote for him a third time even if it meant I had to skip voting in the presidential race.

Agree with the lost part, but excuse me for butting in on the 'abandonment' issue. Last I saw, military helos tried to drop supplies and the good people of New Orleans fired upon them. I would drop supplies from 100 feet and take off too.

No. The last thing we need is a bunch of politicians screeching at each other right now.

Bush has already said he wasn't happy with the response. And within a day of that comment and mere hours after Congress authorized the action, the National Guard was hitting NO, lead by a General that even the mayor of NO says that he trusts to not only handle the job, but to take charge of it.

Let's tend to the people here. Then the politicians & pundits can go back to scratching each others eyes out. Fair enough?

Have you seen the story of the young man who swiped an abandoned school bus from the city streets of New Orleans? He used it to drive 70 people to Houston.

Then we have the flooded bus lot full of buses. There were at least 340 of them. Not used for anything. A little math tells us it would have been possible to move 23,800 people in just one trip.

The Superdome mess never had to happen.

Neither did the one at the civic center.

If only the Mayor had used available local resources.

Naw! He's been too busy getting ready for the Southern Decadance Celebration that was supposed to take place this week in NO.
