That's never existed in the history of the world, Joshua, in any government taken as a whole. But it is a nice dream. :)

It's also a foolish dream that a few elites in high places can centrally plan and run an economy better than millions of individuals acting in their own interests.

34% is the Republican approval rating. I have yet to see the plan less than 51% and now that he's out selling it I expect to see it go up.

States don't need more federal aid! This is one way the federal government hasn't tightened its grip in matters otherwise reserved for the States. The people of each State can vote themselves more taxes if they have something they want done by their government.

Schools don't need more help! The federal government has no business being involved in public education. The people of each school district can provide that if they really believe they need it. Most school districts are already bloated empires loaded with waste and are ineffective at teaching the children.

Government doesn't create any jobs except government jobs. Only private individuals and businesses create jobs that foster the exchange of goods and services. All government jobs are paid for by taxes - one kind or another - and take money away from others.

Public health disasters has nothing to do with economic stimulus! It's just a way to give attention to certain illnesses or certain groups based on political rather than medical reasons.

If it's so wonderful, going to create so many more jobs, stimulate the economy, blah, blah, blah, why should he have to sell it? After his press conference and the things I've read this morning, Obama seems more like a used car salesman than ever before. I'm sure this stimulus package comes equipped with a protective undercoating as well.

I doubt it, because then they won't be able to sell the undercoating later. This is not about solutions. It is about dependence. You gotta keep them coming back for more.

The Republican's cut the undercoating from the bill in lieu of a tax cut where you can depreciate the value because of rust. They called it wasteful pork barrel spending...

Its A USED car... no new features, no warranty.

The fact is we've seen it before, and the last time the government tried to spend its way out of a recession, it just prolonged the recession.

Its a piece, a lemon, a Yugo. Melt it down and start over.

They are getting ready to come out with a four door version of the Yugo. It will be called a Wego.

But that's good because it lets consumers make choices. Not everybody want rust undercoating. Perhaps they live in a state where it's not a problem, and they don't need to pay extra for something they don't need. Perhaps they don't need it because they wash their car every other day. Perhaps they don't need it because they don't intend on keeping the car that long. Perhaps they just want to take their chances, and understand that there might be a cost later on.

In any case, why should someone else make that decision for them? The economy always works better when people get to buy what they want and need, rather than having it forced on them.

The OP is an oxymoron. There are no best parts of the stimulus plan. There are not even better parts.
