    Shadows are prone to pass.

Therefore, here is a reminder ...

    Colossians 2:16

A "SPECTRE / shadow / token" as real as the Object as real as the Light the Cause and Effect of the "SPECTRE / shadow / token"—“THE SUBSTANCE OF IS CHRIST”, SO REAL is the “shadow / token / spectre"—“these things which ARE: SABBATHS’ FEAST OF CHRIST!”

A shadow is a form without substance

Denied! There is no shadow without a body and a light and a solid surface.

There is no shadow in airless space, yes, which like the whims of minds called ghosts are without substance.

But when the "shadow" is "OF THESE THINGS" and "THE SUBSTANCE IS OF CHRIST", "the shadow is OF SABBATH'S FEAST OF CHRIST THE SUBSTANCE -- the Body growing (and moving) with the growth (and movement) of God." verse 19.

Undeniable irrevocable and indissoluble REALITY thanks to "the TRUTH AS IT IS IN CHRIST"!

The truth of the Sabbath hits home like the judgments of God upon Athaliah.

Sorry, but it is impossible to logically deny what I said. Why? Because the Scripture explicitly states that "substance" belongs to Christ not to the "shadow." I can run over your "shadow" with my truck and not hurt you at all because the shadow has no "substance". However, if I run over you with the truck then you are harmed.

That is precisely why the sacrifices "could never take away sin" (Heb. 10:4) in contrast to the "substance" found in the Person and work of Christ alone which does take away sin.

True believers prior to the cross believed in the "substance" (Acts 10:43) not the "shadow" as the "shadow" only served as a teaching instrument or a symbol.

The "skia" in Colossians 2:16 -- to be short and sweet -- is The Lord's Supper, "SABBATHS".

Take that, if you can, and learn about the following,

'gourmet', Collins, 'of uncertain origin' ---really?

Not via the KJV from the Greek?

My Afrikaans Bible omits altogether any idea contained in verse 19, "Nourishment being ministered".

The component words making up the Greek term 'epichorehgoumenon' are recognisable in the English, e.g., a 'gourmet meal'. In context of Colossians 2:16-19, “The Lord’s Supper”.

Follet's Greek Dictionary mentions Horace's 'canis a corio nunquam absterrebitur uncto' from the Doric proverb, 'tis bad to let the dog TASTE LEATHER' ['eat for FOOD, leather' GE] -- 'chalepon CHORIOH kuna geusai'.

'Chorion’, 'embrionic sac' like an egg filled with food or 'supply'.
    ‘Chortádzoh’ – ‘fatten’
‘Choreúoh’ – ‘to feast in honour of the gods’
    ‘Chórtos’ – ‘eating place’
    ‘Chorós’ – ‘ring’ – ‘gathering’

'Choreography' from the 'choréhgos' – some rich person / ‘chorón dédohka’ – ‘leader’ / ‘chorodidáskalos’ – ‘teacher’ – who paid for FOOD and other needs of ‘the train or band’ of dancers. Everybody had to dance to the ‘choréhgos’ step and sing to his tune – hence, ‘chorus’.

    In Colossians 2:19 Christ is
    “the Head ['choréhgos', ‘Supplier’]
“from whom supplement / gourmet / food / substance [‘epichoregóúmenon’]
“is being supplied / fed to the Body the Church [‘chorus’]”.
“by joints and bands [‘haphóhn kai sundésmohn’ // ‘chordáí’ – ‘chords’ binding together]

In Colossians 2, verses 16,17 and 18,19 pair in the chiasm, AB-AB

A: “Do not let judge you anyone in eating and drinking of Christ the SUBSTANCE”
B: “Spectre of things coming” [16-17]

A: “Do not let beguile you anyone of your REWARD (Christ the) NOURISHMENT being ministered”
B: “Will grow The Body with the growth of God” [18-19]

You simply do not know what you are talking about. It is the very same word used in Heb. 10:1 and it has no reference to the Lord's Supper at all.

What do you refer to with <<it>>? <<It is the very same word>>?

    The word 'skia'?

Maybe the same word, the same spelling even. THAT DOES NOT SAY THE SAME MEANING OR THE SAME APPLICATION.

'Skia' is but one word and one bird does not make the summer. When a certain one bird does appear though when the summer arrived, we call it the 'nuwejaarsvoel' - the new year bird.

The last one I caught, dissected and put under the microscope, likes festive, worshipping circles, manifest in passages like Colossians 2:16-19

‘chorehgéoh’ 1Kings 4:7,20 “Solomon had twelve officers [‘chorehgoî’ (‘ploûsioi’)] to provide means [‘chorehgeîn’ ‘chorehgía’] for the king [‘tohi basileî’] and his household [‘tohi oíkohi autoû’]; each one’s turn came to SUPPLY FOR A MONTH [‘méhna egíneto epí ton héna chorehgeîn’].”

‘chorós’ Exodus 15:20,21 exodus ‘song’ / ‘chorus’ of triumph before Marah John 19:28 “after this [his triumph] Jesus saith, I thirst.”

‘harmósai chordéhn’ Nahum 3:8 “tune the chord / ‘choir’ (‘harmonica’ / ‘accordion’ musical instruments) prepare thee a portion; prepare a portion for Ammon she that dwells among the rivers—water is round about her”

‘chorehgía’ ‘chorehgían katartísasthai’ Ezra 5:3,9 ‘preparation meal’ / ‘provision’ / ‘provide preparation’ / ‘provide house’ for passover 6:19ff
    ‘Victuals’ Exodus 12:39

    ‘choreúoh’ ‘hai choreúousai’ ‘echóreuon en choróís’ 1Samuel 21:11 ‘chorus’ / ‘song’ of praise Saul his thousands David his ten thousands;

‘choreúoh’ 1Samuel 18:6 ‘singing dancers’ / ‘chorus’ for David’s triumph
    ‘choreúoh’ 1Kings 1:40 ‘rejoiced’

‘choreúoh’ Judges 21:2 “Feast of the LORD in Shiloh” to “reservation” of the tribe of Benjamin

‘chorós’ Psalm 149:3 “in the congregation of the saints … praise his Name in chorus”
‘chorós’ Psalm 150:4 let everything that hath BREATH praise Him with / in chorus.”
‘chordéh’ – ‘en chordais’ Psalm 150:5 “praise Him with stringed and wind instruments on pitch / chord – in tune”
Psalm 150:1 “Praise GOD IN HIS SANCTUARY : PRAISE HIM IN THE FIRMAMENT OF HIS POWER”

‘chorós’ Exodus 32:18,19 “It is not the voice that shout for mastery / battle cry neither the voice of them that cry for being overcome / cry of defeat that I do hear, but the NOISE OF WORSHIP … and he saw the calf and the dancing and singing.”

    Epi-chor-reh-geoh – epi-chor-rehgnumi (‘rehssoh’ chant prayers in chorus)-gounádzomai (supplicate; clasp another’s knees.)
‘chórion’ / ‘kórion’, Deuteronomy 28:57 ‘abortion’ eaten to survive [passover threat 27:9,10]

    Bringing together ….

2Corinthians 9:10 “He ministering / providing (‘epichorehgóhn’) seed to the sower will both minister bread for eating (‘árton eis brohsin’) and supply (‘chorehgéhsai’) and multiply (’plehthuneî’) your seed and will increase (‘aukséhsei’) the fruits of your righteousness.”

1Corinthians 11 “The Lord”, ‘Kúrios’ of “The Lord’s Supper” – ‘Kuriakos Deipnon’, is Lord in “The Lord’s Supper”.
He is “The Head”; “the King” – ‘Basileús’ and “Rich Provider” - ‘ploûsios’ ‘choréhgos’.

In Colossians 2:16-19 “eating and drinking” food however called or suggested, as sustenance, victual, provision, even water —most characteristically as BREAD—can be seen closely associated with “nourishment ministered” – ‘epichorehgoumenon’. The same has been seen in the instances of related terms in the New as well as Old Testament (LXX). And everywhere not only a physical “eating and drinking” but more of a spiritual “eating and drinking” of the ‘food’ whichever characteristically is obvious.

In Colossians 2:16-19 the Lord Jesus is “the Head”. “From the Head nourishment is being ministered.”
The Lord Jesus “ministers / provides” (‘epichorehgóhn’).
He “ministers bread for eating” (‘árton eis brohsin’).
The Head, the Lord Jesus who “supplies” (‘chorehgéhsai’) is
He who “multiplies” (’plehthuneî’) and “increases” (‘aukséhsei’) the fruits of your righteousness.” The Lord “The Head”, makes “the Body (‘sohma’) increase (‘auksei’) with the growth of God.”
    Acts 20:7 “The-for-to-Break-Bread-of-us-Assembling-Together”

In Colossians 2:16-19 “Nourishment ministered” is “The Substance: Christ”. Christ the Lord is “portion” and “meal”, ‘chorehgeîn’ ‘chorehgía’ “of “feast”, ‘heortehs’ // ‘choreúoh’.

In Colossians 2:16-19 “You … the Body of Christ’s Own … the Church holding to The Head … Christ … closely knit together with joints and bands (‘haphohn kai sundesmohn’)” or “chords” in a “ring” or “circle” – ‘chorós’. A ‘chorus’ of ‘praise’, ‘swell’ in ‘worship’ of “Christ”. ‘Harmony’ and ‘accord’(‘harmósai chordéhn’) form “bands joining together the Body” – ‘sundesmohn sumbibadzomenon’.

All the referred Scriptures show aspects relevant to “The Substance” and Subject-matter essential in “The Lord’s Supper”, “ultimately being ministered” - ‘epichorehgoúmenon’, in “SABBATHS’ FEAST OF CHRIST” in Colossians 2:16-19.

Very interesting, to say the least, is Solomon’s “twelve officers – ‘chorehgoî’, who “provide(d) means [‘chorehgeîn’ ‘chorehgía’] for the KING [Christ] and his household [the Church]—each one’s turn came to SUPPLY FOR A MONTH [‘méhna egíneto epí ton héna chorehgeîn’]”. How could this not have become for Paul a precedent of the Lord’s Supper evident in Colossians 2:16-19 where he wrote, “with regard to eating and drinking OF FEAST EITHER OF MONTH’S OR SABBATHS’ FEAST: CHRIST IS THE SUBSTANCE!”?

As Christ in Solomon’s day was the Eschatological Substance of the ‘chorehgeîn’- or ‘chorehgía’- ‘lordship’ / ‘kingdom’, so was and is Christ the God-given and therefore imperative Eschatological Substance and Whole and Wholeness of the “NOURISHMENT MINISTERED— by which holding to the Head, the whole Body the Church by joints and bands closely knit together, GROWS WITH THE VITALITY OF GOD” into the Kingdom of God and Lordship of his dear Son, on earth.

What other meaning does the Lord’s Supper have? The Lord’s Supper—‘The holy Communion’—, has no other meaning than “CHRIST THE SUBSTANCE AND NOURISHMENT MINISTERED”.

And therefore, I believe Colossians 2:12-19 concerns the Lord’s Supper, “SABBATHS’ FEAST OF CHRIST’S BODY” : in the face of the whole, hostile, vindictive, envious and spiteful, “condemning WORLD”.

… which is why to the present day Colossians 2:12-19 is so twisted and corrupted as to destroy its Christian core and character.
