THE Rev. Al Sharpton has launched a "big-time" effort to tear down Illinois Sen. Barack Obama as a candidate for president, The Post has learned.
"He's saying that Obama never did anything for the community, never worked with anybody from the community, that nobody knows the people around him, that he's a candidate driven by white leadership," said a prominent black Democratic activist who knows Sharpton.

What's he trying to do? Get Obama elected... Are there really people that take this clown (Sharpton) seriously?

Reading the article it becomes very clear why he doing this..

    To quote from the article:

"Sharpton also has a personal ax to grind, a source close to him said.

"Al had wanted to run again for president in 2008," the source said, "but now that Obama is a serious candidate in the race, that has become impossible.""

This is just more "kid playground politics" Nothing more and nothing less... This isn't worth a story in my opinion. Like Tiny said, does anyone really listen to Sharpton anymore?

I figured that Obama was not quite "black" enough for some blacks. Sharpton won't be the last.

This statment is suspect since he has supported the clintons. I wonder if he could be paid by the coatail riding wife.

From the time Obama was even being seriously considered as a candidate, before he had announced his actual intention to run, Sharpton has been critical of him. Obama will not come out and say "exactly" what he plans to do for black people as a community, but rather focuses on his plan to represent all American people. Others in the black community have been leery as well, although not critical. Back in February Tavis Smiley hosted the 2007 State of the Black Union in Jamestown, VA. On that very same day Obama announced his run for POTUS in Illinois. Many criticized Obama for not attending the event, even though the event had been planned for a year. Cornel West for example said that he supports Obama's accomplishments and his drive, and defends him as a black man, but he would not vote for him until he knows his platform. He encouraged everyone else to do the same. Sharpton was more critical and disparaged Obama for pulling out of the event.

IMO...if Al "race hustler and publicity hooker" Sharpton likes you, that should immediately answer the question of your worthiness of the President's office...with a resounding "NO."

Sharpton is a charlatan, a criminal, and a racist. This guy shouldn't be able to get 30 seconds of local news time, much less a national platform.

And I plan on becoming violently ill the next time I hear him referred to as "Reverend." Of all the titles this guy should be called, "rev" ain't one of them.

Gee...I wonder if I was clear in my estimation of Sharpton's character?
