I have no problem with the Pope personally (theology aside), believe I will meet him in Heaven one day. But, I dont believe the U.S. should fly flags at half staff for any non-U.S. leader, and probably not for many in the U.S. either.

Didn't have my answer. "No, because He was the head of an apostate church that is leading millions to hell." It is totally inappropriate.

Yeah it is kind of amazing... If you open up Yahoo! Internet site it has about the pope on there...And it mentions nothing about Prince Rainer on there, Who actually was married to an American... So there is actually a connection, you woulda though a president had died or something, who even cares about the pope, he is misleading millions of people into their enternal fate to hell. I only hope this will shed new light to Catholics that Jesus is the way to heaven not the pope, it's been over three days and as far as I know the pope hasn't risen again.

Agreed. And he was monumental along with Ronald Reagan in influencing the fall of the Soviet Union.

Well, I voted NO because the Pope was not a government figure. But I don't have a problem with the flags flying at half staff if that's the way it has to be. But they better do the same for Billy Graham too.

According the following link, the President of the United States, determines when the flags are flown at half-staff and it may be flown at half-staff for a "foreign dignitary"

Here is a link to Flag Etiquette

Billy Graham has been a pretty good spokesman for our country even if he isn't in politics...

The 2 billion Muslims in the world are none too happy with the USA.

Why alienate the 1 billion Catholics?

Of course, we could shoot for an even 50% of the world population.

(Please take this tongue in cheek and don't start ranting.)

At the eye doctor today, the surgery consultant told me a woman in before me was crying so hard they thought something had happened to her family, etc. She told them she 'had no reason left to live. She wanted to die.' Why? The Pope is dead! She had a husband, grandchildren, etc. but no reason left to live now.....

Great that is just great, but what about prince rainer, he had an AMERICAN wife, and we didn't fly flags for him.

The flags were already at half mast, Kayla.

If we lowered them double the flags would not be on the pole at all.

The flags were only at half staff through Friday for the Pope. Monaco is bigger than Vatican City, has 33 times more inhabitants and is also part of the U.N. We SHOULD have lowered the flags again, for Prince Ranier. We're politically correct only when votes are at stake. 1 Million U.S. Catholics ... and how many Monacans?

Most of the flags here are still lowered.

Perhaps they are still lowered for JP II, or perhaps they remained lowered for the death of Prince Rainier.

Not at the baseball games we've seen or locally, Bro. James. I didn't see anything about them being lowered for the Prince. Maybe you live in a more Catholic area where they're following the 9 days of mourning??

I haven't even attempted to understand any of the hoopla surrounding his death. Since I am not Catholic, I honestly don't understand his importance (it wasn't taught to me). I'm sure he's was a great man but there are plenty of those in the world who never get recognized.
