Should there be any limits to supporting Israel?

Of course not. And I didn't support Bill Clinton when he allowed US technology to go to China, either.

    http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2003/9/29/25139.shtml

So because Sharon or whoever sold US jets to China, I'm supposed to dump on Israel? Denouce them? Hate them? Curse them? What?

I will support Israel with prayer and be on Israel's side until I'm raptured or dead, whichever comes first, because I believe God really really meant it when He said whoever blesses Israel will be blessed and whoever curses Israel will be cursed. There is no issue for me. If supporting Israel is an issue for you, Joseph, then that is between you and God.

Like I said, we can "what if" until the cows come home.

Joseph, you have a double blessing - #1, you know Jesus Christ as your Messiah, and #2 you are Jewish, one of God's Chosen People.:flower:

I have a dear friend who is Jewish and his father (who went to be with the Lord a few years ago) was a Baptist pastor most of his adult life. His Jewish mother has never accepted Jesus Christ (for over 50 years, she was a Jewish Baptist pastor's wife and heard the Gospel all through those years); she has never believed. She is very old. Please pray for her salvation. It weighs heavily on the heart of my friend. :tear:

    1. I am not asking you to hate or curse Israel. Please, try not to be too meldramatic here. All I am saying is that there are times when, just like all other countries including our own, we will support their policies and their government because they are right and just and when we should not support their government because they are doing something wrong. It has nothing to do with a promise to Abraham. It has everything to do with standing up for what is right and standing against what is wrong. Supporting Israel is not an issue for me when I see that they are right. Giving them a blank check is.

    2. The Church is God's Chosen People. There is nothing within me that makes me any better than anyone else on earth except the righteousness of Jesus Christ that was imputed into me by God's Sovereign Will.

I will most certainly pray that God will, if it is by his own sovereign will, grant this lady grace and mercy that will reach beyond her rebellious free will and melt her heart of stone, regenerate her, and save her. I, likewise, have a grandmother, other family members, and several friends in the same situation. Please pray for them as well.

I believe in unconditional support for Israel. The Jewish people who are either Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform Jews are completely lost as they deny their Messiah Jesus Christ.
Is Israel a democracy? Certainly not, do they accept all Jewish people? No way. If you are a messianic Jewish person trying to emigrate to Israel(the home state of the Jewish people) and you state your belief in the Lord Jesus Christ on your immigration papers. You will be refused permanent residence in the state of Israel.
Indeed God himself called them a stiff necked people. Are they ever wrong yes many many times. But no matter, sending aside all these things, but giving strict adherence to what the Bible says, I fully support the state of Israel and its existence against the rest of the world!!!

You are an insulting, egotistical, prideful, know it all kind of a fella huh joe?

If you think I am gonna read through 4 different links just so I can educate myself on where YOU stand, then you are far too full of yerself!

Whether we agree with what Israel does or not, we should still lend our support as the bible says. I believe that our support of Israel is one of the last things holding our country together. All I read on this post is a bunch of "what ifs'" asking would you support Israel if this or that happened. Do as you will. By the way....You go away!

I edited out my statement which were written out of anger. I apologize to the leadership of the board and Soulman. It is very clear that Soulman is only interested in being inflammatory and slandering me in ignorance. I am therefore putting him on my ignore list and will not respond any further to him.

For the second time, do you have any Biblical support for this position?

The Abrahamic Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant, and the Davidic Covenant.

    For example:

    Gen.12
[1] Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

[2] And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

[3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

You will notice there are no strings attached to this - nada, zip - none at all. This Covenant rests solely on God and His faithfulness to His Word - not on any human conditions.

Now a person might argue, "well, if Abraham didn't go, then the Covenant would be null and void." But God, Who knows the beginning from the end, the past, present, and the future, also knew that Abraham would obey Him before He (God) made the Covenant with Abraham.

Another person might argue, "well, that applies to Ancient Israel." I read no where in this Covenant that says "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee until your seed is captured by the Assyrians or the Babylonians or the Romans, and then my covenant ends."

    So LE,

You think it doesn't matter what Israel might do, we should support them no matter what?

I don't support sin - but I will not turn my back on a sinner.
I will still ask God to bless them and I will not curse them.

I may not support everything that a country does, but I will not turn my back on them.
I will still ask God to bless them and I will not curse them.

Does that also go for Islamic Countries like Iraq? Or, does that rule only hold for Israel?

If America were to condemn a policy of Israel sometime in the future that was immoral, would you, as another person said in another thread, cease to be an American and turn your back on America?

Genesis 12:3 doesn't say anything about what Israel may or may not do - I see no conditions on it.

May I snort? May I guffaw? The genocide of the unborn in America hardly gives America any moral high ground to condemn any policy of Israel's. Of course, Israel has unborn blood on her hands, too. So nearly every country in the world is guilty of genocide.

Do you support Israel's infanticide? If there are no conditions to supporting Israel, I guess you do.

The topic of discussion is not America's sin and whether or not we should support them in it. Most of us don't. But, what I here you say is that we should support Israel even when it is in clear rebellion to God. I don't think that is right and neither did the prophets of God Almighty who routinely condemned them for their sins. They did not support Israel. They condemned them. Sorry, but this is what I think is so dangerous about Dispensationalism.

Condemning a policy is a lot different than turning your back on a country.

I will not turn my back on my country, but I do condemn some of it's policies.

    My interpretation of Scripture:

Israel is God’s chosen people, but at the moment as a nation they have a temporary spiritual problem in relationship to Christ as messiah:

    2 Corinthians 3:13
13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

I believe the “it” of vs. 16 is the nation of Israel.

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

    Acts 1
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

But until the “season” of the restoration of the kingdom to Israel, we must deal with her as a secular nation.

So no, she cannot be given a “blank check” even though she has perhaps the strongest bond with America of all the nations.

If by some strange turn of events she attacks America we must defend ourselves, but it’s not going to happen (and if God were on her side we would be destroyed).

Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Perhaps, then you might define a bit clearer what it is you mean by support. How can you condemn their actions and support them at the same time? Are you referring to supporting them through prayer and witnessing? Please clarify.

I am glad that you looked up all of those Scriptures - that is work.

Are we praying for peace when are busy yelling for war?

We need to pray that our soldiers can come home, and we need to pray that the IDF can go home. SOON
