    from the original page:
But up front - this will NOT be a C-vs A page

    A poster had said:
Yep. Whichever team had most players take a knee during the National Anthem loses. The Woke/Communist NFL can suck eggs in Hell for all I care.

I do care who goes to Hell!

What does the Bible say about this

9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2Pe 3.9).v/x

3 [It] is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, [that we pray for all men] 4 [because He] desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1Ti 2.3, 4).

On the other page a poster asked:
Serious Question Salty. Outside the doors of the church, when is the last time you shared The Gospel with someone?

I am constantly talking to others about the Lord. Is it every single person - no
but I normally carry Bible tracts with me - w/ info about our church. I often will start
a secular conversation and then take it to things of the Lord.

What really gets to me - is that here in Central New York - about 50% of the population is Roman Catholic - I read the obits - and wonder if someone ever shared the Gospel with them.

About 7 years ago, a young mother was murdered in her house - just three doors down from our church. I have always wonder if someone had witnessed to her. (this was several years before I became pastor)

Work for the Night is coming.

Jesus stated do not cast your pearls before swine, so even he was not for giving everyone all of the time the good news it would seem

NOT "C-vs A" questions. Purely 'evangelical' questions:

...do 'slacking soulwinners' result in MORE people going to hell? ...

...do diligent soulwinners result in MORE people going to heaven?

Good questions - So the add on question would be
    why are some "slacking soulwinners"

Is it because they are introverts?
is it because they fear rejection
is it because they are afraid of talking to strangers
    is it.......
therefore what action should the church take to overcome this?

    What do you mean "dodge"

How many people in our churches are involved in evangelism -
and if not why not. Thus what should our churches be doing?

So how does one judge before speaking to someone that the other is "swine" not to waste one's time on?
    Mark 16:15, Colossians 1:23.

The Holy Spirit led Paul away from Asia, correct? Were there not lost sinners there?

Paul did explain and so qualify, ". . . whereof I Paul am made a minister; . . ." Which the Holy Spirit did.

    Short answer, no and no.

However, God has giving us the great privilege of being part of His decreed method to bring folks to salvation. Why would any Christian be slack in that effort?

    peace to you

I grew up in what I now consider to be a hyper-Evangelical/Dispensational Southern Baptist church, I listened to many impassioned sermons that horrendously placed the bloodguilt of others being damned to hell on Christians because of their failure as a soul winner. Is this what you believe? You ever preach that?

It was 'yes and yes' in the SB Church I grew up in. Not only is there no heavier burden that could be placed upon us, but this is an outright horrendous lie. Not even the saints under the yoke of the law had any such burden placed upon them.

Should we be a soul-winner - of course!
Are some pastors extremists in soul winning - of course
(ie must go on official soul winning at least 3x a week, must turn in weekly soul-winning report, must always have ate least 100 Bible tracts with you, you must leave a Bible tact at every meal you eat out, even if you don't leave a tip - ect ect, ect.)

Personally, I encourage friendship evangelism; that is not to say I wont go door knocking, and ect.

How you got the ideal that I shame people into Soulwinning - is beyond me - unless you think everyone else is like the church you grew up in.....

...do 'slacking soulwinners' result in MORE people going to hell? ...
...do diligent soulwinners result in MORE people going to heaven?[/QUOTE]

IF salvation of souls depends on my zeal, will, power of persuasion, stamina, et al . . . THEN God is in trouble :)
If God's plan is thwarted because I had a stroke and cannot entice them or had a foot injury and could not knock on a door, then you ought to worship ME - I am more powerful than God. [sarcasm]

He ordained the "foolishness of preaching" to get out the message. But since salvation of a soul is 100% the work of God and 0% the work of the flesh, I will leave it to Him to tally who goes to heaven and to hell. "I" can make people convert or decide or say a prayer, but only "God" works in the heart and converts the soul. Salvation (real soul-changing work) is of the Lord, not Bob.

Pure fatalism. You are conforming to the stereotypes of Calvinism that many people have on this board. God will save His elect but He uses Christians to do it. Esther 4:14 is interesting........
There is no doubt that the flesh rebels against speaking to strangers about the Gospel, and Satan will tell us all sorts of reasons why we shouldn't do it. But the great missionary church of Antioch was built by people 'chatting' (Gk laleo) the Gospel to strangers (Acts of the Apostles 11:19-21).

My church does door-to-door evangelism and we have seen some fruit from this. Christ still saves I'm not saying everyone should go door-to-door (though Paul did - Acts 20:20), but we should be trying to do something to reach the lost. Is anyone here a member of the Gideons?
Paul tells us that we shall reap in due time if we don't give up (Galatians 6:9). But if we do give up, or don't even start - what happens then?

Not a slam on Salty, but he speaks of “soul-winning” which is a common phrase today. It really does put emphasis on Christians to “win souls” rather than proclaim the gospel.

I remember us picking up a hitch hiker (young man) and witnessing to him for about 100 miles. He was an atheist with a fair amount of Bible knowledge. He was completely unmoved but polite. I was depressed.

The next day I spoke to my pastor about my “failure”. He said, “if you didn’t think it was all about you, you wouldn’t feel so bad.”

It occurs to me that might be a side effect by phrasing the gospel as “soul winning”, we start to believe it’s up to us, not God, bringing people to salvation.

    peace to you
