Amazing how many of these shots are in violation of the US flag code:

    Here is an excerpt:

C4K you bring up a good point, either those
who have written the code do not enforce it or
choose not to enforce it ,or there is less dogma
and grace abounds because of the obvious pride
and joy people seem to associate with it.Which
is evident in the pictures...I sincerely believe
those who do wear it as apparel or paint there
face or wrap themselves in it are not showing
disrespect but instead joy! and the pursuit of
happiness it stands for...I think the majority
of the pictures are self evident that it causes
joy and pride, but your point is a good one..I have yet to see an official or a police officer
chastise or give a ticket to anyone who has sewn
a flag into a leather jacket or admonish an Olympian for wrapping him or herself in a flag
    after victory ..then celebration.

Personally it does not offend me(the pics)the faces of the people tell the true story.. but I am only one voice. imho

I, on the other hand do fing violation of the flag code offensive. It is not law, just a standard of respect handed down. I do not think that our national symbol should be drapped on the shoulders of sweaty athletes or used as a tablecloth as in on of the photos.

To each their own I suppose, but I have always been a supporter of the flag code as written.

I respect that C4K..for you to get your message
across it means mass education first with the
hope of compliance. The law really is on your
side on this but it has elevated to a wink and
a nod or a weak slap on the wrist. People of
creative will, want to express their joy in
their patriotism and usually that involves incorporating the flag...yeah commercial and some are contrived to get you to buy a product. So the saturation factor seems over done and out of control.

For it to be elevated to your way of thinking
the code needs teeth(money) and education but
so many special interests who now manufacture
our flag and its image (China) would make that
one phone call to a white house offical and ask
the hounds of enforcement be taken off.

Personally it does not bother me either that or
I have gotten used to it since it is such a
festive occasion where people are happy and the
    subject is not breached.

    good point C4k

C4K, those are good points. I hate to see the flag as a bandana, for example.

During the SuperBowl in Houston, I was more offended by the way Kid Rock was using the flag as a poncho, than I was by Janet Jackson's bit of publicity seeking behavior.

Is this a recent change? I have beeb gone from the US for ten years, but it does not seem like this type of action was as prevelant then as it is now.

Hate to be a stick in the mud ;) .

I think it has changed or has escalated. Perhaps
we have been lulled into it incrementally and now
we have the bandannas, the napkins all saying made
    in china.

It would take a populists movement to get the code
    enforced or reformed. imho

It would be a worthy cause and then out of it
some protections and respect...with a pinch of
    grace.
