Remember she lives in the South, what do you expect. Many of these people are still fighting the Civil War.

Have you ever been through Mississippi and Alabama?

His assertion that anyone "progressive' is in the middle is in complete error.

"Because of the opprobrious epithet "liberal," today they call themselves “moderates.” A skunk by any other name still stinks!"

A poll by the New York Times and reported by Liberal's own "news" channel means less than nothing.

Political ideologies are part of America and you have one just like all the rest of us whether you are directly affiliated with one of the major parties or not.

I've been there and in every other State of our union except two. Where would I least prefer to have my automobile breakdown? I'll keep my answer to myself so as not to offend those who don't live in the South.

I believe in a balance. There is a time for tax cuts just like there is a time for spending. I don't necessarily want to see government grow but I do want it to be capable and functional. I believe in caring for the poor that are with us which is not best done by government but a universally suitable substitute has yet to come forward. I embrace some of each ideology and vote based on times and current situation more so than a party line.

That then is part of your political ideology.

I believe in less government especially at the federal level. I believe the vast majority of federal government programs should be disbanded.

I believe government is more often the cause of problems than a solution for them.

I believe that capitalism is the best economic system developed by man and far superior to all other failed models that raise their ugly heads in times of crisis.

I believe in caring for the poor through the family and the church - not the state - because they can do a much better job than the state and the state tends to politize and corrupt the process creating perpetual beneficiaries who develop an attitude of entitlement to charity.

I do not believe the force of law should be used to redistribute wealth no matter how worthy the receivers or how unworthy the givers might seem. I believe government should protect the rights of private property ownership including all wealth accured by legal means.

I believe in the authority of the individual, the family, the church, and the state are all ordained (directed or permitted) by God and each must respect the domain and limits of the other. I believe if any one of these - including the state - is not obedient to the laws of the one and only true God then it is an instrument of evil. God can not be excluded from the state.

I believe the role of government is primarily to administer justice between men such that we are not tempted to do so individually, to provide for the common defense against enemies, to secure our borders against illegal entry into our land, to protect the rights - freedom, liberty, security - of the individual, the family, the church, and their privately constituted agencies, and to engage in only those few and limited activities that can not be performed by the individual, the family, the church, their privately constituted agencies, or the lowest possible level of local governance and then, to the extent possible, as quasi-government agencies.

I believe every individual and every family is first responsible for their own welfare and their own success or failure. I do not believe any other individual or family owes any other their welfare or their success. I believe everyone must work for what they eat. I believe everyone one is free to give or not to give to another in need of their own free will.

This then is part of my political ideology. I don't think it is totally aligned with either major party but I know it's absolutely not aligned with the one presently in power!

I agree, but you are definitely leaning to the right...

Redistribution of wealth is what taxes has always done. The poor man in the ghetto who doesn't pay taxes probably see the police more than the rich man whose taxes pay the cops salaries. Rich people don't use libraries but they sure pay for them via taxes. What about roads, bridges and public buildings? Yep, taxes paid for them also though they are used just as much if not more by people who pay no taxes.

I don't think you will ever git rid of redistribution of wealth...

You bet I lean to the right!

Taxes for things such as I mentioned are not "redistribution of wealth" in the sense of that meaning. Naming it so is just another attempt to rationalize it. It's not about paying for law enforcement, building and maintaining public transportation, etc. It's about taking money from one and giving it to another for things that should be and can be the individual responsibility of each person. You know the difference!

    You blamed Yankee!

Actually, Texas is more western than it is southern. Now I did live in Chattanooga, Tennessee for a few years. It was wonderful. Most of the people, except for the two that broke into my house, were great. I even have good friends in Georgia.

I just read a poll that had 90% of Americans either VERY concerned or concerned about the enormous debt incurred by Obama's spending plans.

I am a big supporter of the president of the United States and I am concerned about the deficit. However, for the next couple of years until we get the threat of a deflationary spiral and this recession out to the way I don't see any alternative to the federal government picking up the spending slack in this country.
