I like your thoughts here--Something evangelistic would have been good, or something that demonstrates the Goodness of God through Jesus Christ our Lord...

    John 3
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

    Or

    Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

But now they have angry atheists blowing up their Facebook Page ratings

I once stunned a group of Liberal Pentecostal-likes with that verse which I looked up for them. I was only joking, but felt a little guilty that it seemed to put the fear of God into them about their views. Still funny though except one saw me smirking and slapped me for it. :)

Brethren, Politics and religion may not mix but Jesus Christ is 24/7 in our lives whether we are at home, at the voting booth, at church, on the www, texting, whatever, we cannot compartmentalize our lives. Jesus wants all of us all the time and why shouldn't He?

People probably wouldn't like this one posted in the schools either:

    Spelling lesson:

The last four letters in American; I can.

The last four letters in Republican; I can.

The last four letters in Democrats; rats.

    End of lesson.

Test to follow in November, 6, 2018.

Remember, November, 6, 2018 is to be set aside as rodent
    extermination month.

Well, if its not about American politics, why are the leftists so torn up about it? The sign is not political. More ignorant liberals fussing about nothing.

Locally, owners of polling places are paid rent for the use of their property. My precinct's polling place is in an independent Baptist church. I think it's a smart move as it gets folks into the building they otherwise wouldn't go into. As for the sign, I think someone got too cute. Remember our Lord said, "Be wise as serpents, yet harmless as doves." And to outside, yes the sign is political.

If the board of elections has a problem with Scripture being displayed at a (GASP!!) church, perhaps they shouldn't have a polling place at a church. Just sayin'

imho - BOE did NOT have a problem with Scripture on the sign - it was the specific verse being used. Left and Right may be in Scripture, but they also refer to politics - and in this case - the "left" was derogatorily.

What if people were attending the funeral of a man who committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

And what if the church posted on their sign the scripture from the Bible - "Go and do thou likewise"

Even the devil could cite scripture and did so for a twisted purpose. I'm not calling this church evil. I'm saying that someone in that church used scripture for the purpose for which it was not intended. It is intended for drawing people to the Word of God and God.
