TRUE. MY Salvation 100% is by God and His Grace alone
FALSE. IF part one above is true, then IT DOESN'T REQUIRE OUR COOPERATION, for such "cooperation" would be a work and not Grace.

Can't have it both ways.
</font>[/QUOTE]So God is a rapist. No, Bob you can have it both ways, for our cooperatoin is motivated by grace also. Thus, none of it is really ours. Augustine in his "Confessions" laments the sins that he would have committed had he not accepted Christ. While I don't think that is something that is neccessary for us to do it puts proper emphasis on Grace. I am not a drunken bum and it is not my will to be one at this point in my life. There was a time in my life where I drank too much and but for grace could have ended up a drunk. By my will I am not one, but it is by the grace of God that my will has been molded in this fashion. Thus it is not my work but his. Give credit where credit is due in your life Bob. Do you earn your paycheck? You may think you do but isn't it God who provides. When you think about it all the people who come to your Church where you preach are a grace of God providing you a living. You do some preaching but God even put the knowledge in to you (what of it is true that is) and motivated you to be a pastor by a calling. Do you still have to do something or can you just sit around and have money fall from the sky. Nope. Ya gotta go with where God is leading you Bob. If you don't, you will starve. Your will has to be to go to work everyday, even though God surrounds you with the people that will make it possible for you to put bread on the table. Our wills must align with his. This is what salvation is about. Otherwise God is a rapist. Yet this too (our wills aligned with his) is a grace. You can have it both ways Bob and you must.

    Blessings.

    Matt 18.....

Talking about life on earth. The Holy Spirit has zero tolerance for sin, and he will chasten us. Also, note that the wicked servant was not given to death.

    Luke 8

This parable demonstrates that a carnal Christian, or one who is not grounded in sound doctrine, will bear no fruit. Loss of salvation is neither warned of, or implied.

    Bob Ryan said...

Romans 11 points out that we are grafted into the SAME place from which the Jews fell AND that God wants to put the Jews BACK into the place from which they fell.
Not only is this a denial of OSAS it is also a denial that once you fall you can not be re-instated.

So then is confession worthless ? If one cannot be restored, why does the RCC require confession to a priest as the only method of reconciliation between man, God, and the church ? (If I am over-simplifying, forgive me.)

I see Romans 11 as a promise that saved Gentiles will share in the blessings promised to Israel.

Sorry Bob, I misread yer post. I take back the part about confession. I'd edit it, but time has elapsed. Sorry, again.

But, I'd like for you to come up with a Biblical precident for God giving back something he took away. Moses repented, but was never allowed into the promised land. Saul lost his kingdom. Sampson had to die blind. David's family was cursed. These episodes seem to tell me that all the chastening was done on earth, but salvation was never lost.

Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

David prays after his sin. You and I will probably never kill anybody so we could have their wife, right ? But David is asking for the joy of salvation to be restored, not salvation it'self.

Psalm 106:7 & 8 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

I believe there are a lot of Christians who doubt their salvation, based on how they feel, but Hosea tackles this problem beautifully.

Hosea 11:3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

Then you truly believe that all of God's creation will be saved! Your declaration says so!

There is then, no reason for Jesus to have lived among us, and died a cruel death upon the cross. There is therefore no hell, or second death. for God is saving the whole world.

Your statement says that one cannot fall away or be snatched from salvation, even in light of the scriptures that say he can be...those words of Jesus the Son of God! You must think Jesus stupid for saying so, that is, if you are relying on the words of his apostles as "a greater truth".

    That's a pretty weak rebuttal.
