These snips are from Philip Comfort's book on textual variants.

1:22a : WH NU : obedience to the truth
var/TR : obedience to the truth through [the]Spirit

"It is extremely doubtful that [through the Spirit] could have been accidentally dropped from the text, especially in so many ancient witnesses. Rather,it it is far likely that this is a later that this is a later addition made by some scribes(s) wanting to emphasize the Spirit's work in the believer's sanctification (see 1:2;also 2 Thess 2:13;Titus 3:5). This reading found its way into TR,and has been popularized in KJV and NKJV." (p.738)

1:23 : WH NU : living and remaining word of God
var/TR : living word of God and remaining for ever

"The manuscript support for WH NU is vastly superior to that for TR. The expanded reading, found in the majority of manuscripts and popularized by the KJV,is an assimilation to the wording of 1:25,..." (p.738,9)

    3:8 : WH NU : humble-minded
    var/TR : courteous

"The WH NU reading is so well documented that its authenticity can hardly be doubted." (p.744)

3:15 : WH NU : but sanctify the Lord Christ
var/TR : but sanctify the Lord God

The WH NU reading has excellent documentary support. "The identification of the persecuted believer's solidarity with Jesus Christ is obscured in the variant..." (p.745)

4:14b : WH NU : conclude verse with rests
var/TR : add at end of verse on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified

The longer text is a scribal gloss. (p.750)

4:16b : WH NU : let him glorify God by this name
var/TR : let him glorify God in this matter

"The WH NU reading has the best documentary support and is poignant...The variant [has] late manuscript support." (p.751)
