You're right, ann. I never thought to do that. I will, if she does actually want me there. Thanks you!
I'm probably going to see her today at the BBQ. I'll tell her my robe is still mine, and ask that she update my songbook again. Gotta fight for what you want. And no, I won't do it in an angry tone, just a solid "YES".

    love,

It worked! My robe is secure, my book is up to date. Yesterday, though, I sat in the very last row and sang there instead of the choir. As usual, noone was singing. Then one other person sang, then a few of them joined in! Yay! The pastor said he missed me in choir, so I said, "But nobody sings in the back rows!" He laughed!

This is not the proper approach. You will look like you are trying to show up the director, and you will push the other choir members to her side. You need to have this conversation in private. If you don't get the answer you want, you will have to choose between participation on the director's terms (i. e., the "grin and bear it" option) and dropping out (i. e., the "take this choir and shove it" option). Whether you stay or go, you don't want to hurt the choir as a whole. A public confrontation would do just that. Good Luck.

What worked? Did you talk with the Director at the BBQ?
    I'm curious.

I assumed that the choir in the OP was the choir of the church where Sopranette is in membership. If that is so, surely it cannot be right to change churches for such a reason as a disagreement between a choir member and the choirmistress over robes and sheet music. If the matter cannot be sorted out between the two people concerned, surely the pastor/eldership need to know the situation. From the OP, it sounds to me as if the choir is (at least to some extent) being run as a separate entity from the church.

I talked to the choir director in private. It turns out we both had some miscommunication thing going on. She didn't' have much time to talk, but I did mention to her, too, that no one in the back rows participates at all. That kind of lukewarmedness needs to be addressed! So maybe I'd be more effective seated near the back of the church, rather than up front. Actually, that suits me just fine, I don't like to be stared at at all! That way I can just nudge those that are :sleeping_2:

I say this in the right spirit and I pray you receive it as such.

I would suggest you go back and read this thread that you started a while back and see if you have changed any or if you still feel the same way now as you did then.

I really think it helps us to look at ourselves, and our actions, the way God looks at them.

Thank you, Sue. Yes, I do see the pattern here. That's part of the reason why I was so upset. But these are not the same people. This is my biggest fault, but it has also been a strength to some degree. I'm floating along on snowflakes and moonbeams, then the cold gray dawn emerges. Yikes! Bad poetry alert!

Thank you for taking this in the right spirit!

I wanted you to see that even though it is different people, you still have this 'problem' with them.

Maybe it's time to look inward and ask God what you have to change to keep this from happening again and again.

Anger used to be my greatest strength (and I didn't even realize it) until the Lord showed me there are gentler ways to win a point.

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
    Proverbs 15:1

In the world, it would be said this way, "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."

When something happens we, almost invariably, look around for someone or something, outside of ourselves to blame. As long as we do that, the problem will never be solved.

We need to look inward first (easy to say...harder to do) and ask God if it is something we need to change, then work on what He shows us.

Praying God will give you guidance.

    We've all been there...

Hey, If they want to be in the choir and have not practiced I tell them to lip sink.
Well people are paying good money these days to go see their favorite singer do it, why would it not work for one choir member?

Doing well, thanks for asking! I strongly dislike this kind of seperation between choir and congregation, like rock star and spectators, this could be what I was ultimately designed to do, maybe. No more over the top cresendo's, no more ever newer, better, stronger, faster mentality. A simple "thank you" speaks volumes! How Great Thou Art, How GREAT Thou art! for ever and ever, amen!
