A child who attends my church was one of the Von Trapp children in this musical done by a local high school where I live.

Have you ever seen this musical?

I watched it on the video for the first time in the last year. Though I enjoyed finally getting to see it, my eyes glazed over both times, on the video, and the live theatre. Except, of course, when Maria and Captain Von Trapp fell in lova and admitted it. :D

    SaggyWoman,
I love that movie! One of the truly great classics. Here's a lady who loves the Lord with all her heart but is hiding behind Church doors. Kinda like some of us, huh? (me) When pushed out she learns that the Lord has a great big wonderful world just waiting for her. Imagine what we all could be if we would just walk through those doors that the Lord has opened for us!
Thanks for reminding me, I've not seen it in a while. I'm going to dig it out and enjoy my day [IMG]

Yes, I've watched The Sound of Music over and over for years. [IMG] Yes, it's long, but it's all worth it, every time! :D

    Charles,

A lot of people like the Sound of Music.

I think the play version I saw the other night had a bunch of two bit actors and too much delay for scene changes.

The video is better, and flows better.

I've seen it on DVD and on Stage. I prefer the Stage. BTW - I just saw Julie Andrews in Disney's "The Princess Diaries". Doesn't that woman age? Is she another female "Dick Clark"? I gotta know!!!

Hi Johnv. [IMG] My husband had one of those "brushes with fame" when he was chaperoning a group of teens in Washington D-C a couple of years ago, and they ran into Julie Andrews in a souvenir shop. She graciously posed for pictures with them, and she looked great.

One thing you've got to remember about Hollywood actresses, though, is that they have access to and can afford the best plastic surgeons. [IMG]

Still, kudo's to Julie for looking terrific in "The Princess Diaries," and it was a cute, clean movie that people can enjoy watching with their daughters! [IMG]
