here's an insightfull look at why McCain's anti-torture bill is anti-American. I can't cut and paste the whole thing but it all follows very logically and compels people of thoughtful, insightful intelect to ponder these anti torture viewpoints. Do yourself a favor and read the whole article.

The news from Iraq at this writing features a video of a terrorist murdering a man believed to be a kidnapped American civilian. The victim was trying to help rebuild that country. His cold-blooded execution is a reminder of what our Islamo-fascist enemies have in mind for all of us, non-Islamist Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

The difference between Islamo-fascist enemies and
our US & allies is that the Islamo-fascist enemies use
    torture, we do not.

Torture is NEVER a good way to collect data.
The faster you need the intellegence, the less
    effective torture is.

Torture and humility are NOT American values.
If America must torture people, we must shoot
the tortures. Who you gonna get to torture
    under those circumstances.

I think that it is courageous of John McCain to do this; I think that he knows a little bit about torture. Also, it would seem that a Christian would be opposed to torture purely on a biblical basis. Funny what blind devotion to a particular party will do to one's beliefs.

It's an op-ed, a commentary. It's not a news article. It's neither objective nor accurate. Nor is it intended to be.

Sorry for double-post but a further thought:-

Perhaps those of you who think McCain's Bill is 'anti-American' would like to reflect on how 'anti-American' it really is when the CIA and NSA pick you up from your home based on duff phone-tap evidence, fly you to Poland and have your fingernails 'extremely rendered' to attempt to extract further info from you.

To paraphrase Martin Niemoller, it's always Someone Else's Problem(TM)...until they come for you...

    Thank you. I've fought College
hazing in the 1960s and 1970s
for the same reason I fought High
    School hazing in the 1970s
for the same reason I fight against today.

    Those people who torture others
denigerate our society. The tortures are
    the ones brining on the
    Beast-from-the-Sea Society

The use of torture is not a policy of the US and never has been. It is this anti-American political tactic that says "we torture therefore we have to stop it" that is demanding a piling on of more unecessary laws that will further stifle the militaries ability to gather info.

And Terry, if you or a loved one were captured, and the military have a perp in custody that knows all, which restrictions do you want in place?
