    Wow John!

    How exciting. I posted on my blog a few weeks ago about a joke Dr. Black told - He was going to tell his students their comps would be in German ;) Had no idea that your son was one of them! Way to go!

    Dr. Black has been very strict on Paul's German, and hinted that Paul should really bone up on it again before the oral comps. (The Ph. D. students have to learn two more languages during their studies in addition to Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, to research documents in those languages.) He was really worried about that, and probably has no fingernails left! But there wasn't much German in the actual test, so he was sooooo thankful for Dr. Black's mercy! :laugh:
