    The next SBF will feature as a guest speaker Jerry Falwell. Would you consider this the right direction for the SBF, or wrong direction? Is this the right direction for Fundamentalists to take?

    Depends on how many degrees of separation you think one must respect to be a fundamentalist. The first fundamentalists didn't seem to separate very quickly even over significant doctrinal issues.

    The subject of his address might also be relevant.

    Does Southwide Baptist Fellowship have a web site? I've never been able to find it.

    As to Falwell speaking there...His former academic dean at LU's seminary just became president of TTU. Falwell is STILL a member of the BBF and the BBF, WBF, and Southwide are all supposed to be working together, so I suppose it is no surprise. Of course, Falwell was a regular speaker at Southwide back before John R. Rice passed away and perhaps even a few years after that.

    IMHO, Dr. Roberson never groomed a person to take his place (that I am aware of) and he was elevated at the institution to the point that no one COULD lead it effectively. Consequently, it has been in decline. The school needs leadership and they turned to a Liberty guy for it rather than a TTU alumnus. If, in all the years of their existence, TTU has not produced someone whom they consider capable of leading them, then I suppose Falwell's ministry is the natural place for them to turn.

    According to information I received concerning the 50th Southwide Baptist Fellowship [Oct. 2-5],
    the invited speakers are: Evangelist Tom Schuj, Dr. Bo Moore, Dr. Lee Roberson, Dr. David Gibbs, Dr. Larry Ressor, Dr. Dan Burrell, Dr. Danny Lovett, Dr. Mike Loftis, Dr. Johnny Pope, Dr. Fred Luter, Pastor Rudy Holland, Dr. Gene Mims, and Dr. Jerry Falwell.
