Have you ever known anyone who prayed in "Bible" language?
ie using words like "thee" and "thou" rather their common and contemporary language they would speak the rest of the time?

    Why is this?

My opinion is that they somehow feel that the language of the Bible (specifically the KJV)
Is more holy than our "common" language of today.

Is there any other reason that makes sense other than piety?

I know alot of people that pray using "thee" and "thou"...our pastor does.

Opinions are like armpits....everybody has them. Some stink more than others.

Could the reason be that some people pray like this because of their reverential fear of God? God is holy. Not everbody prays like this because they think they are more "pious" than others who don't. But like you said, that is your "opinion". Let me ask you this, Dale--do you have something against people who desire to live godly lives and disagree with you?

Possibly ignorance thinking that if we say the right words God will pay more attention to us?

What does using 17th century english words rather than contemporary english have to do with reverence for God?

Would that be the God mentioned in the first commandment or something else?

    I have nothing against Tim.
We are sometimes on the same side of a thread and on opposite sides on another topic.
He desires to live for Christ and I respect that, even though I disagree with him sometimes.
(He disagrees with me as well, lol)

Now, as for those who are out to prove their own self righteousness, I do have a problem with that. I do have a problem with legalism.
I do have a problem with those that deny the diety of Christ.

Could it be that the person using 17th century English words prefers to pray like this? Have you ever asked anyone why? Why are you assuming that people are more pious when they pray this way? Look Dale, if you don't like to pray that way, don't....but don't knock down people who do...is that fair enough?
Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

This is the first commandment of the Ten Commandments....the "ME" is Jehovah Elohim...the triune God. That would be the LORD Jesus Christ revealed to Israel in the New Testament as their Messiah.
That is a flat out lie Dale...and you know it.

Well sure they prefer it. the question is why?
THat is thepoint of my thread. Why?
That is the question I am asking with my thread here.

That I have a problem with people that deny the deity of Christ?
I DO have a problem with people wo deny the deity of Christ.

You may not deny the deity of CHrist, but I have a problem with those that do.
ANd SFIC came pretty close to that in another thread, but that was another thread.

This is about why people use archaic language.

So far I have learned that some prefer it.
Fine. Why do they only prefer it in prayer and not in everyday conversation?

Go up to the person personally and ask them----why ask for the opinions of people on the BB?

That is so silly . Why do you post ? You offer your opinions . That's a major component of forums . Really basic stuff here .

I do it, I do it without thinking so there is no special reason. It might be that I use KJV usually and I do quote scripture while praying... I hope this doesn't make me a bad person... :godisgood:

I post to contribute to the discussions....but to ask someone on a discussion board why people pray using "Bible words" is sort of silly....really not basic stuff. If you really want to know why people do certain things in specific ways, ask the person himself/herself. That makes more sense.

You can ask them of people on the BB . It doesn't have to be face-to-face . I don't get your position at all .
