    music4Him,

It staggers the mind a bit, doesnt it?

And it seems to be fueled by something that I would almost describe as a hatred for that particular gift of the Holy Spirit, or at least those gifted with it.

It sort of reminds me of how the legalistic pharisees responded to Christ so much of the time. He simply went about doing good, and yet those ones were so often "gnashing their teeth" and "mocking" and trying to "trick Him up" and "reviling" Him, etc etc etc.

I've noticed...and I have been born again for 23 years now...that in Charismatic and Pentecostal fellowships these dear people are just about the sweetest most loving and "fruitful" born again people you would ever want to meet. There seems to be an openess and genuineness to the love and fellowship that is very unique. I believe its nothing less than the sweet anointing of the Holy Spirit in those place, where the Holy Spirit is welcomed in His fullness.

And yet...these dear people are mocked, ridiculed, slandered, and even condemned sometimes.

(and everything they are mocked for is backed up with reams of scripture...taken in contest and "rightly divided.")

I praise God for the Baptists and Southern Baptists. I really do. There is so much that they give to the body of Christ, and I have so much in common with them. But one of these days God is going to blow a refreshing and life giving new "Wind" into some of these fellowships, and my oh my are some people going to be suprised by what happens to them!

(It'll be a very blessed surprise!) [IMG]

I said that it means if you drink any deadly thing ACCIDENTLY,(which is what the scripture means) it will not harm you!! """"

Tam if you are saying that any Christian can accidently drink something deadly today and not worry about it, that is a much more dangerous thing to say then what DHK said. DHK was being obviously sarcastic, where you seem to be speaking with conviction because of your exclamation points, etc...

Just to clarify, are you saying that if me, A Christian, would by accident drink a strong acid that I should not seek medical help?? Or if my Christian 9 year old would drink some kind of floor cleaner I should not call the poisen center?

Question, If signs and wonders are still being done today by certain gifted people, why is it always tongues that is the sign and the wonder. Why not severed limbs being restored? Why not the person with cerebral palsy from birth being healed and walking for the first time in 40 years, why not a dead person raised up. No, those signs ands wonders never happen but someone stands up and speaks an unverified language, another person stands up and says what the first person means and that is considered a sign and wonder? What I described would be easier to fake then a cheap card trick. Modern tongue speaking could hardly be considered a sign or a wonder. If it seemed miraculous in any way it would get plenty of news time.

Hope all had a great Christmas and New Years!!

    In Christ,
    Brian

    **********************************************

NO, that is NOT what I am saying. Wake up!! No, if I drank something strong by accident and knew about it, I would go to the emergency room like everybody else. Forget the poisen!! I'm saying that the gifts of the spirit are all in effect, including that one!

If you think DHK is being sarcastic, you are right. He has a biting way of saying things that are very hurtful to a lot of people, and are really unnecessary.

Some of the dispicable things that are said on this board would be grounds for a lawsuit if it happened anywhere else.(or at least cause a fist fight) :D (I'm just being sarcastic)

No, not just any christian should do that. I would hope that no body would start thinking like you suggest.

And what I said IS NOT worse than what DHK said! Nothing could be worse, except maybe when you twist my words too!!

    working for Jesus,

Please tell me where you find "gibberish" as a gift of the Spirit. </font>[/QUOTE]No, you're right, there are no gifts of gibberish in the bible. Because you see, that is your interpretation, and not what the bible says.

There is however, the gift of tongues! Which IS what the bible says. :D

    Peace,

    Tam

Why not a dead person raised up.
    It happened!

    Very interesting story!

My sister didn't have a severed limb, but she did have one leg shorter than the other and while being prayed for (I wasn't there at the time) people said they watched it grow out even with the other and since then she hasn't walked with a limp.

If you don't believe in the gifts thats fine, but if you are wrong about these gifts of the Spirit and they are real and still for today until the last day after the last trump sounds....what did you do by calling them gibberish? I don't want to sound judgemental about this but its just a "what if" question?

M4H, That was a great story but has nothing to do with what we are discussing. Did the second pastor have a gift to raise the dead? No, he didn't. Was the first pastor dead for 3 days like Lazarus? No he wasna't. He wasn't even "dead", if he really was, for more then a couple minutes. Could God have answered prayer and let him live? Sure that is possible. He was still badly hurt and went through a ton of medical care to get well. Why would God have stopped the miracle short and not healed him while he was raising him? There have been many times when folks were thought dead for a time but were diagnosed wrong. One time a person was slid into a box in the hospital but ended up coming to. There are thousands of stories like that where nobody had a chance to pray, yet the person lived. A real example of a sign and wonder would be for someone to go to a funeral, after the embalming(sp?) is done, and raise the person back to life. Paul and Peter could have done that. No one alive today can. The sign and wonders gave the Gospel God's authority by a show of His power. Once the Bible was complete it became the authority. It really is that simple. Thanks for the story and please don't think I believe God has stopped healing and doing miracles because he hasn't. He can and does do what he wants but the signs and wonders we are discussing had a purpose and were done by the hands of those early believers who had those gifts (mainly the Apostles). I hope this post isn't taken as being harsh. I was just trying to be very straight forward.

    In Christian Love,
    Brian
