So is everyone glued to the TV. I kind of am. I am working around it.

So anyways this is in place of the "brrring in the spring" thread.

It nice and springy the last week out here. I raked today, and raked, and raked, and raked...we planted some flowers a week ago and the wildflowers are already startind to bud. [IMG] If I EVER get it all raked and figure out exactly what I'm working with it'll be more fun. I must RUSH to get the garden ready before it's too late.
Also, need to rush and get seed for the lawn, gonna do bluegrass. :D
Did I ever mention I like, no, LOVE design? [IMG] Y'all are gonna be seeing pics of all this when I'm done, if I get my poor little scanner functioning again! I'm lovin' every minute of this!

Its spring here at Blackbird's! Tractor is still broke down--I can't find a part for my fuel line--had to borrow a deacon's tractor but got the job done--today I worked a little with my 5 horse tiller--planted a few tomatoe plants--etc. Pair tree is bloomed and leafed out--got pairs on um about the size of a pencil eraser--

If it don't rain--and I'm gonna repeat--if it don't rain tomorrow--it'll be just dry enough to plant corn come Monday mornin'--so everybody do a little "jig" so it won't then do a dance when I tell ya'll I need rain!!

Anyway, ole Blackbird is excited--this afternoon my wife and I visted with a little 8 year old girl here at church and she prayed to recieve Jesus as her Lord and Savior!! She will make a Profession of Faith tomorrow morning and then be baptized next Sunday!! How about that!!!!!

Blackbird is excited about his garden/truck patch--as us Cajuns will say, "Bigger dan ever! Boooyyy, don cha know--dat ting is bigger dan ever!!"

Blackbird is excited about tomorrow morning's sermon--"The Order of the Ordainance" 1 Corinthians 11: 23-25 I may print up a nutshell later if I get time!!

    See ya'll later!

Sherrie, that is a new moderator controlled feature which keeps this topic at the top at all times. I am experimenting with it.

    Cheers,

I was wondering why this topic kept being at the top.

This place just gets better and better doesn't it.

We know that spring is developing in Southeast Georgia. The biting gnats are multiplying daily. They chase you to your car. They light into your hair, sell tickets and have all their friends come over for a nibble. I thought mosquitos were pesty when we lived in Alabama, but the gnats take the cake, literally.

Other than that the weather is beautiful.

Are the gnats because of all the dampness? That sounds like a mess.

    Gib,
My boy and I were on the Battleship Alabama last Friday--some Cub Scout outing--we were taking group pictures in front of one of those giant deck guns(sorry, I just had to put that in! Some folks on the board don't like it that Blackbird likes guns!!) Anyway, the gnats! Brother! The gnats! They're tinier than a 'skeeter--so when they lite on your legs or face--you don't see um but they're there!!

Any Geogian suggestions the next time we visit the ship and stand by those guns(opps, I slipped again! Sorry!)??

Blackbird, do you pack heat in the pulpit?

I knew of an editor who kept a .45 nearby. Course, he also kept a fifth of Scotch in his desk.

Whew! I had the awfulest time getting on the board! Somehow I was logged out. I never log out. Then I tried to get back in. It would not accept any password I put in. So I just felt really defeated. Well I emailed the baptistboard. But I quess being Sunday, no one would get it. Ok, so I tried some more on the password I had, and it would not work. Well anyways I used a feature that uses your email to get my password and get back in. I felt like I had a real workout.

Our Georgia gnats are not really a problem during the rain. They like humidity and sunshine. We got plenty.

If you come this way you need to pack some Skin- So-Soft and some dryer sheets of all things. I put the dryer sheets in my hat and it will usually keep them off your head.

When we first moved to Georgia we went to an Easter sunrise service. You would have thought you were at a Pentacostal, Holy Ghost, Jesus-just-showed-up service with all the hand waiving, head jerking and knee slapping. The next year they moved into the front lobby. Savannah loves the gnats so much they have a baseball team called the Savannah Sand Gnats.

I saw gnats swimming in the cats water bowl outside. Must be a sign. Of what tho. Lots of flies this year?

The dryer sheets are good for mosquitos too.
