Whenever I try to play videos (from my hometown newspaper site) and others, it just comes up a green screen. I get the audio, but no video. Any ideas?

Got a link? Do you know what format it is in?

    Odds are either
    • you need to update your Flash/Shockwave/Quicktime
    • you have the wrong program allocated to play the file
    • you have not given the site the proper permissions (firewall, browser, security)

Try the AP videos about half way down. That's what I was trying to access. There was also one about a man with a metal bldg for a home but facing some county govt problems.

I updated the flash, but didn't work.

Works fine for me. Right clicked on one of the videos and it mentions Adobe Flash Player, so that may be the addition you need to look for. Google should find you a download place.

I also noticed another problem. When a friend sends me annoying...I mean, cute videos of babies dancing or clips from Americas Funniest Videos, even though Windows Media Player is my default for mpegs and mpgs and the like, the Quick Time now opens them. I changed its setting as far as defaults go, but it still opens it. What gives?

I can still look at the videos. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ is the flash player that my unit uses with firefox.

As for default player settings, good luck. There is a tab in the start menu for setting defaults but I have a wierd player that came from I have no idea where and it opens when I double click certain videos - have tried resetting defaults and it still opens. I have to open WMPlayer and then open the file????

Love Microsoft! A week ago all my Microsoft program icons changed to the generic plain white icon with the window in the middle. Have no idea why it happened or how to fix it if I really cared

They know better how to run our computers than we do so we should probably let them --- NOT! :type:

Doggone it. I just can't see them. I've updated everything and still, nothing but a green square but I get the audio.

Is it Flash? I can't play the flash video from sky.com with IE. It tells me to install Flash, so I do, the Flash demo works but then when I go to watch other Flash vids it does not work again...
