Can a person submit to any authority and not obey and still be submitting?

Hey Timtoolman I have got to say that your a great debater and I am looking forward to working with you somtime. On the issue of this debate I think it is impossible to submit to authority and not obey it since submit means to give up.

    P.S I voted.

Submission to authority and NOT OBEY? How can that be rationalized?

By definition, submission = yield, surrender, resignation, obedience [Webster New World Dictionary]

Dr Bob, you do see, however, that the OP will attempt to liken the scriptural headship/submission topic with this more general submission topic, discarding the fact that the sfriptural topic of headship/submission is specifically limited to the scope of the marital and spiritual covenant and spousal role, which is something Webster's New World Dictionary does not address. In other words, an attempt will be made to have Websters interpret scripture. Bad idea.

Hey Fish, thanks for voting. It does seem that most people do believe the bible, even among women. This arguement of submit and obediencs has gotton so screwered that I have my doubts that people read to hear from God or just read to back up thier lifestyles.

Thanks for piping in Dr. Bob. Have been watching your post since I have been a member and do value your opinion. Your ability to bring scripture along with what you have to say, and belive are very impressive to me.

    Thanks again,
    Tim

    Hello Timtoolman.

I suppose it is possible in a Ghandi like way to oppose yet not take up arms against a state.
In a way this would be submitting to the unsupportable.
To say to those in authority, "Yes." But, "No."

    johnp. Just voted yes.

I wish those that voted would have given how they voted and why. I love the answers on submitting without obeying!
