I have always enjoyed Sunday night services over Sunday Morning. Sunday Morning services tend to be rushed.

atestring, it's neat how we're all wired differently...

I always have enjoyed Sunday morning more, because I'm less tired and usually more prepared to listen.

I also, in our first of 3 services, get to help in the worship band...My Alesis and two Ensoniq keyboards get their workouts.

Since our Sunday Service (one service) starts at 10:15 or so and ends at 3 or 4 or whenever in the afternoon, we MIGHT have an evening service if some stick around until 6 pm!!! [IMG]

I would be interested in hearing how ya'll have done that. Seems like Sunday Evening is the red-headed step-child of Sunday Worship services.

I would be interested in hearing how ya'll have done that. Seems like Sunday Evening is the red-headed step-child of Sunday Worship services. </font>[/QUOTE]We utilize tons of specials--from all over the congregational map. One month we had the following groups present a musical offering: student choir, kids' choir, preschool choir, senior adult choir, student praise bands (two of our three), and a bluegrass band. We're blessed with some good talent.

Our pastor is very interactive on Sunday evenings...often times, he'll engage in dialogue with the congregation during the sermon.

And, we use as many people as we can. My students are in charge of Sunday night media, taking up offering, and stage setup. Lots of people have a job on Sunday evenings at our church.

And I think one key is that our pastor works hard on his Sunday PM sermons. I have served under pastors that didn't give much attention to them. He does, and it shows.

Sunday evenings used to be our indepth study sermon. Then, the elders wanted it to be more interactive to hold the attention of people. I could no longer be quite as indepth, but we had plenty of interaction, and our attendance plummeted. Our Sunday evening congregation was not made up of those who wanted to be entertained, but of those who wanted to study things indepth, and that was taken away.

So, to correct the attendance dropoff, they decided that we would drop the evening sermon altogether and have some singing, some "words of testimony", and maybe a film. Our Sunday evening attendance is now lower than Wednesday.

I would like to go back to the way things were and see if we can't get some of our attendance back.

Funny how what works in my church is not what yours needs at all, Hopeofglory.

I guess that's why we have ourselves different churches!

Hope you guys find the right Sunday PM combination...

Hello, I`m a Welsh `Brit` ;) My sister , and I always attend evening services. In our case the main reason is that both of us work full time, and Sunday is a late sleep morning for me. Also, we both have grandchildren over for the day as it our only chance to do this. Thanks be to The Lord, one of my grand children has recently started joining us, we are praying for the others to come as well.

That's my point. We can't (and shouldn't try) be all things to all people.

It's like schools: If you teach to only the average student, you're going to leaving out those on both the lower end and higher end. Think about what happens when you teach only to the LCD!

We get those who have left other churches that wanted more. However, we lost those again, as soon as they decided to change things.

It would seem to me that the pastor is to be incharge of the things of a spiritual nature, such as the content and structure of the services. Why not consider a combination of things for Sunday evening? Make your indepth study an interactive one that is maybe a little shorter to accomodate more of the musical worship. Just some thoughts.
