I was there and saw the hands raised to approve it.

What would you guess was the percentage for and against Hatley's motion?

There was just under 10000 people there it would be hard to say. The much larger number was against it. However, there were quite a few for it. Anyway at this point the full board has been directed to look into the executive committee's handling of this incident.

    That seems appropriate.

There is one small but exceptionally large issue with the Convention meetings. Less than 15% can be there and those there are supposed to speak for the other 85% as well. It would have cost only me to go to the Convention about the same amount I use to take my family on a week vacation once every 2 to 3 years (and trust me - it isn't a lot but for us it is). Going to these meetings are extremely expensive and most pastors or messengers (or churches sending them for that matter) are unable to attend to provide votes. In our day and age they should devise a way to all each State Convention to set up a live streaming of the Convention and each State Convention can pre-determine those pastor/messengers from Churches still in good SBC standing. Tally the votes and turn them in. If need be they can use the Associations to mitigate some of the amount but this will allow for more churches to 'be involved' and not just 'feel like' they have a voice when our voices are not being heard because we cannot be there to speak.

I believe, without question, that if more of the churches could have been able to be involved, we ould have had a different outcome. Opinion - yes, but one based on most SBC'ers I know.

Thanks for posting this. I hope it brings some comfort to his family that some will see what others already knew. This entire process has been an orchestrated takeover. It worked. Top to bottom. The left were absolutely annoyed that the Vice President of the country came to speak at the convention. Bet that won’t happen again.

How did they get by with firing him? They clearly lacked grounds. Their reasons have been satosfactorially refuted. They acted disgracefully. I am ashamed of them and the SBC for allowing it to happen.

At the convention one of the members of the full board made the accusation that Executive board acted outside of the boundaries they had. Bart whatshisface a member of the executive board stood up and made the claim that Patterson refused to meet with the executive board. The Seminary sent him to Germany and then cut him off from any school resources while he was asleep leaving him stranded to his own devices to get home.

I will say it again. If we see someone replace him with particular soteriology then we will know the true motive behind this.

I agree with you on the most likely motive. My question is how are they getting by with doing it? Why Did the convention not act?

political correctness is my guess. It has been proven to work the last couple of years at the convention.

I haven't seen in print the accusation by a board member that the Executive board acted outside of their boundaries, but here is a record of the statement of Bart Barber: Bart Barber’s Powerful Statement.

I was there I heard Barts statement and his ridiculous statement was made as a response to an accusation on the floor against the executive committee.

Would you agree or disagree that the statement as recorded at SBC Voices is accurate?

I see no graciousness in this statement, no recognition of Dr. Patterson's contributions and scholarship. I am currently reading Polity, ed. by Mark Dever, with many documents by old time Baptists about church discipline. Over and over the old timers insisted on graciousness and kindness to the accused, giving them every opportunity to defend themselves, etc. I do not see that in this statement or the EC's handling of the entire unfortunate situation.

And contrary to the current powers that be who seemed to want to find him guilty as fast as they could no real guilt has been established on Dr. Patterson's part.
