I want to try an experiment:

This is a NON-DEBATE thread, so only friendly and civil discussions as judged so by Dr. Bob or myself will be allowed.

Since this is the Traditional Christian Music Fellowship thread, our moderating will heavily favor the TCM side.

I do not want to discourage debate on the issue of music, but I think a place to go where folks on one side can convene without the constant threat of opposition is in order. I will ask those who post in this thread not to avoid the open threads in the Music Ministry Forum.

    Let's see how this works!

    Your friendly co-moderator,
    Aaron ;)

I'm not sure how exactly this works but i would be glad if we could start TCM threads without the "constant threat of opposition".

I was upset that a thread i started afew weeks back asking for testimonies (The Transforming Power of Christ) turned sour because of "opposition". And the testimonies stopped coming. [IMG] I really meant it to be edifying.

    Hi Aaron,
Great idea! I think it can happen. I like traditional music. I like hymns mostly. They teach me about the Lord and help me to keep my mind fixed upon Him.

I love when I hear my children sing hymns. My two year old tries very hard to sing. This is how this child does, "Old Rugged Cross,":

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross,
The "amblin" of suffering and "change"

But, the funniest is how this child sings, "God Bless America," she ends it like this: "Land of the Streets and the Home of the Braves."

Sorry that is a bit off topic.

But, I would love to talk about TCM here with anyone else who is interested.

I like traditional Christian music also.. one thing in our church that is difficult for our little choir is that the congregation consists of a bunch of older folks (70s and up) they have a class called the Keenagers well anyways it is hard for us to sing new stuff because they are so favorable to the old hymns but hey I like them both so it don't matter any to me!

I enjoy reading about the history behind some of our greatest hymns. I'm not sure if anyone else is interested but here's a link to a site I found today.
    AMAZING HYMN STORIES

Kandi, you'd be surprised how many of the "old folks" actually enjoy a bit of new stuff every now and then! ;)

    What a great idea, Aaron!!!

I had quit reading the music forum because of the constant debating. Now we can read either or both threads and actually see what people's opinions are.

I have been disppointed with the music thread because there didn't seem to be any fellowship.
I just happened to stubble in today.

I want to read about all kinds of Christian Music.

    Thank you.
