Elnora! That's the pattern! (The pictures from the link to Cyberattic.)

However, the shape of the dishes is slightly different. But I noticed the "mark" on the ones pictured is "Theodore Haviland, Limoges, France, Marie" so I wonder if the difference in the shape is where it was made?

The "mark" on the back of mine is "Theodore Haviland, New York, Made in America". From what I can find, looks like when the company started making it here, they may have changed things like shape and trim? Here's a link to the "marks"...mine is marked like the one in the lower right under..."Haviland S.A. & Theodore Haviland - New York (Post World War II), red and black overglaze...except it doesn't have the name of the pattern underneath it (which would have solved this whole mystery).

    http://www.antique-china-porcelain-collectibles.com/haviland_marks.htm

Betty... I hope this discussion about china patterns is not "hijacking" your thread! It DOES fall under the topic "Tell us about your day", because that IS what I have been doing!! But if you'd like, we can start another topic about this, or Elnora and I can take it to PM.

I finished the "Pastor Project" finally!!! Yea!! [IMG]

Betty and Molly, I wasn't ignoring your comments. I got a little too curious trying to see what pattern cj was trying to find the name of.

Betty, before I got sidetracked I was going to comment thay your dishes are very pretty and I would love to hear more anout your tree.

Molly, I got those storage containers a few years ago and I like thae fact that you can see into them and know what is there. I did not go shopping after Thanksgiving. I don't like to shop and especially with the crowds. I try to shop at "off" times.

CJ Don't you dare take the china subject elsewhere or to PM. I find it fascinating. You have me looking for my china. Do you know that I was letting my grandchildren eat out of $25.00 plates? :D I didn't.

I can't find the exact pattern of the china inherited from my aunt. I found a blue rose pattern that is exactly like it, but the roses on mine are Pink.

It is Winterling Bavaria Germany Valley Rose
And the marking is just like the bluerose.

Elnora I have looked in all those places that you posted. Can't find my other pattern. (Do you know what I just typed? :D I said I can't find my mind. Oh well. That's probably true)

TatorTot That is the nicest story. Sitting by the fire, eating your sweet potato pie and drinking your tea.

Now I have to hide from my dog, he wants to eat with me. ;)

Molly I love to order online. It is the best way.

Ralb Walmart may change their way of advertising, etc. if very many people are injured trying to get into their stores.

My youngest granddaughter (age 6) went to church with us today. She sat at the organ with me while Grandpa ushered and did other duties. Then she sat with Grandpa until time for the children's service. The music minister announced that it was time for 4 &5 years old to leave for their service. He forgot to say and the 6 years olds, but Grandpa said go and she happily followed the other children.

Then we took her to Mazzio's to eat with us and Grandpa's two children who now are her aunt and uncle. We had such a good time.

Stepdaughter asked her father what he wanted for Christmas and he was telling her about a lighted angel that he wanted. Stepson said very quickly why would he want an angel when he already had one. YES, He was referring to me. Wasn't that sweet?

Our Sunday Service was the lighting of the first advent candle and the Lord's Supper. Very special.

Tonight is 5th Sunday Sing. This is always exciting. Never know what I am going to have to play.

Hope everyone is having a great Lord's Day.

    Hi Betty,

It is 3:30 something in the morning here and I couldn't sleep. When I figure out what you are trying to say about your china I will try to help you find it too! :D I had to get a turkey dinner cooked yesterday, again. Long story but I didn't post much after Thanksgiving and only answered cj about her china that day I posted. It was all I could do. My body hurt so bad the day after Thanksgiving I couldn't do anything. Not complaining though. I really have to change the way I do some things for sure. I don't like being idle, so get a little frustrated.

I love shopping online also. The crowds drive me crazy. I get claustrophobic and people get too crazy for me. I have had people take things right out of my hand! I let them have it. If they think they need something that bad, well... ok with me. [IMG]

The only china I have is Christmas china my husband bought me. I love it. So pretty, it is too bad I can't use it the rest of the year. I know, he spoils me. I let the grandkids eat on it, but I wash it by hand and don't let anyone else help with that part. They are a little to careless. Here is a link to my china. It makes a beautiful table setting. Click on the supersize link, that is closest to what it looks like.

Elnora Your china is beautiful. I might use it all year long. Basically, what I am saying is that I can't find the pattern that my aunt's china is.

I do put my china in the dishwasher, but it is taking a chance. China must not be as delicate as we treat it. My has been moved many times and packed by me.

I know what you mean about hurting. I was so tired after Thanksgiving Day, but it was a happy tiredness.

We had a lovely time at church last night. 5th Sunday Sing. The only problem was that so many people are ill. Music Minister was not there. All the people who can lead singing were ill so the pastor led the service with some of the youth leading the singing. Pianist and I had to wing it without direction, but actually, she leads and I follow her lead. Works great!!!

Today, Oh dear. :( Must pay bills.

Happy first of December, every one!

I think after this week I will have everything under control :D Let see I believe I have been saying that for about four months now. [IMG]

    Have a great Lord's Day.

    Betty

Yesterday, I was exhausted after trying to pay real estate taxes and the usually bills. And Income Taxes are just around the corner.

Today will be a relaxing day...a painting day with friends.

I think I will order somethings online. Then either this afternoon or tomorrow, I have to go to the bank, travel agency, grocery store, maybe even Walmart.

Husband brought home an angel for the yard. He found one at Walmart. Now we just have to figure out how to put it together and get it in the yard.

I'm still thinking about a lighted nativity scene that I saw.

I'll check back in later or maybe tomorrow.

I'm off to the big city for a root canal.
However, I am glad, actually, because at first they thought I would have to have it pulled (a big back one) and get a bridge.

Will try to go by a great needlework store afterwards.

Betty asked me to stop in and tell how my low carb diet is going. I hope to make this a way of life in order to not only loose weight but keep my diabetes under control. I started out on 20 carbs a day, sometimes as much as 30, but not often. I lost 13 pounds in 4 weeks, during that time I was also on my med for thyroid, which makes loosing weight harder.
I have found that the daily recommeded amount of carbs for just weight maintence is 300 grams. I am currently on 150 grams a day, which is 1200 calorie a day diet. Daily carbs need to come from things like vegetables, milk, and grain breads. Not from sugar and white flour(less nutrients and fiber then wheat, rye). Typically for breakfast I'll have one slice of wheat low carb bread, 8 ounce glass of milk, and maybe an egg, or a bowl of instant(no sugar) oats or grits, maybe cream of wheat, which is one small package of instant. add equal for sweetner(no cabrs or calories). For lunch maybe salad with some sliced meat, left over if I have it, or ham or turkey sandwich meat, prephaps a can of tuna(today left over ranch chicken and asparagus). Depending on what I'm planning for dinner I may have another slice of low carb bread. Either ice water or caffeine and sugar free soda. I try to make low carb main dishes for dinner and eat my carbs as vegetables. If I'm still low carb for the day I may have bread, if I didnn't for lunch. If I require a night time snack I share and apple or banana with my husband.
It doesn't sounds like a lot of food, but it seems to be plenty. I used to eat a lot of food I see now. And missed a lot of meals, probably becasue I over ate so much I wasn't getting hungry when I should. Now I'm hungry at meal times,a nd if I miss or am late for lunch my medicine makes me sick. If I still feel hungry when I finish a plate, then i wait a while to see how I feel, usually I'm ok till the next meal, if I get really hungry between meals I have to have a small snack( it's required of me now).
Last itme(2 years ago) I dieted adn lost weight, I found I was eating twice more then I needed for a meal. Now that they make me eat every meal instead of missing meals, I ahve found I was still eating too much food, I have cut it by almost half again. I can not imagine just how much food I was eating say 4 years ago. It's increadiable to see just how little I actually need now to feel comfortable.
Mt main problem is going for a walk every day. I just don't do it enough. I did buy(ebay) a Richard Simmons tape for when it's cold this winter, and I am going at the first of the year to the Y and see about finical aid for membership there.
I'm on the prayer list at church and I can tell it too. I wouldn't be able to do this without it.

I agree. Besides...it seems that the stores have a whole lot of nothing special.

I don't know about you...but I like to get my family things that are special to them. It's hard.

Do you have any links Molly? I've been using Amazon.com for a lot of things. Land's End for other things...they do personalizing...and that's nice. But if you have any other sites that you like...would love to know what they are.

    Yep...that's right...I'm so....not done yet!

I think I have nearly completed my shopping. Just one more gift and I will probably get a gift certificate.

Most of it was done on line. Just have to wait for them to get here so I can wrap them.

We put a lighted manger scene in the yard. We bought an angel, but it really isn't what we wanted so we are taking it back.

Uh, Oh, I just remembered I have not bought Muffin (the dog) a present. He has his stocking hung, too. ;) I bought him one of those fiber optic trees for his room. It is beautiful.

Keep up the good work, Donna. Glad you are feeling better.

WisdomSeeker, I bought some things from J C Pennys and Lifeway and then there is Christianbook.com (I think that's it).

The trouble it seems is that everything in the sales catalogs is already gone. So I shop for online sales.

Hope everyone had a great day. It seems very cold here, but I think it is the wind.

The dog is at the groomers. I have his Christmas present...a little black bear.

I got the car tag renewed for my step-son.

Returned two items at two different stores.

Scheduled Christmas activities with my son and family.

Put wild bird feed out for the birds. There were plenty of birds in the yard in the summer. Little ones and hummingbirds, but I can't seem to attrack the cardinals and bluejays, the larger birds. We don't have very many trees nearby. Maybe that is the reason.

It took two years for birds to find my old yard. Maybe I just need to be patient.

Donna, I know what you mean about stretching the budget to make room for Christmas presents, but you all will never guess that I found $160.00 in my car. I cash a check each month for $300 and use it for hair appointments, eating out, etc. I went to the bank yesterday to cash my check and when I opened by glove compartment in my car there was still money there that I had forgotten to put in my purse or house. WOW!

Maybe you have some money hidden away that you have forgotten about?

No money hidden anywhere...and I looked in my car for some!!! :D

Today, I was "gently" reminded about the Christmas season!! I have a tradition that I do every year. I begin the Monday after Thanksgiving with my Christmas wardrobe! I start out very small with a pair of tiny holly earrings. Each day, the earrings get bigger, I begin to add Christmas socks, Christmas shirts, Christmas watch, etc., until the BIG day before Christmas Eve! By that day, I have socks, shirts, slacks, earrings and pins that blink, and top it all off with a Santa hat!! I even have a pair of red high-top tennis shoes with bells in the laces! I look pretty silly, but it's so much fun!! It's affectionately known around the office as "CJ's Christmas Crescendo"! [IMG]

Well, due to the fact that I have been SOOOOOO busy this year, and I worked this past weekend (when I usually get the "gear" ready), I actually hadn't even THOUGHT about the wardrobe thing! Today, one of the girls "politely" pointed out to me that I was behind, she looks forward to it every year, and I need to get with the program!! :D She just couldn't BELIEVE I was not wearing ANYTHING Christmas!! :D

I promised her I would begin NEXT week, so this weekend, I must get all the stuff ready. I have a lot of Christmas sweatshirts but last year it was so warm, I couldn't wear them, so I got some long-sleeve Christmas "t-shirts" to wear. They're just as pretty, and much more tolerable to wear in December in Texas!! [IMG]

How neat. I love that idea of dressing up progressively.

My last few "days" have been spent planning the whole family-in laws-Christmas party that is to be at my house this year since it is our first year here with this side of the family. OH! and what a family!

So, I have been decorating, cleaning, buying food, wrapping presents, trying to remember where I hid the presents, putting the final clear coat and sanding the bookshelf so that we can unpack the book boxes that are in the living room, trying to find something to wear for the Christmas party for Dh's work, getting stuff ready for two school Christmas parties, finishing Christmas cards, psyching myself up for the party here, all the while still being a wife and mom.

Dina I'm not doing anything compared to you. How do you do all that? (I think maybe I used to do that too a few years ago)

CJ That is such a great idea to dress a little bit each day. I love it!!!

I have these lovely sweaters and sweat shirts, but it is always too warm to wear them. If it cold outside, then it is too warm inside.

I didn't even get to wear my fall sweater this year.

I have been busy today....painting in the morning and napping in the afternoon [IMG]

I got a lot accomplished yesterday, though. Cleaning the frig, cleaned the pantry...Oh I forgot I did the laundry today, too.

Spent more than an hour on the phone contacting members of my Sunday School Class about a sick member and working on the Deacon and Widow's Banquet.

    Got to prepare supper.

Well Thankful, I have a wonderful husband who is a great support system and is not afraid to get his hand dirty with dishes-LOL.

I think I have said this in another post, but I truly believe I have *the* best hubby.

And I do most of the stuff while kids are at school, so it doesn't take as long as it sounds.

Today, is Friday, laundry day for me.
