Bend my dog tags and stamp my id card no desert . . .

You can think till Kingdom comes . . . but, the truth shall prevail.

Regardless of what you or I think - terrorists will be treated as terrorists.

The real difference - IMHO - I am continuing on the traditions that my family helped form when we fought the wars that made our Constitution possible.

And one of those traditions was to protect the civilian populace.

I am against war . . . but, I am more against the evils of terrorists . . . killing infants to make a political statement.

The are not soldiers. They are not 'combatants'. They are murdering, cowardly, terrorists.

I am assuming that SOME people are terrorists.

Should I treat you the same? Probably not, you have shown that you do not like to be called what you mistakenly call others . . .

Fine, but how do you determine who is a terrorist and who has been mistakenly detained, who has been scooped up on good information and who was on bad? A hearing before impartial judges would be a good start.

One of the ways to protect the civilian populace is to afford protections to the populace of occupied territories.

And how do you know that? You don't even know who they are - you're just pretending you do. How can any of us know who they are if they are held in secret without charges?

Ok, which ones and why them?

I'm in favor of humane treatment for all prisoners, of habeas corpus, of letting prisoners know what they are charged with and giving them the chance to dispute the evidence and of following the rules of law.

Do you think all prisoners have human rights? If not, then I don't see that you're much better than a common terrorist. If so, then I apologize for misstating your position.

I can see it the news item now: "20 years after his arrest and trial, having exhausted all his appeals, including to the U.S. Supreme Court, terrorist X placed on death row." then, 20 years later, "Sobbing supporter of Terrorist X marries him on death row. They met in a chat room provided by the prison." Then, 10 years later, "Terrorist X executed, wife files lawsuit." 10 years later: "Supreme Court, in the case of Terrorist X, declares death row cruel and unusual punishment. In civil trial, wife receives $1,000,000,000 and TV movie offer." Now multiply that times all the terrorists out there. We taxpayers, of course, are loaded with $$$$$ to provide for their defense and all their appeals, their imprisonment, food, TV, magazines, visits to the law library...........
