Did that person have his faith on Jesus or something else?

Do you believe a truly born again person will continue in sin? Habitully?

Once we are born from above, how are we unborn?

The spirit is dead (apart from God)..then it is alive (connected to God)..then it is dead again (apart from God). How many times can this happen in a believers life???

I was brought up to believe in OSAS. Many scriptures have bothered me about this..but I have not throughly searched it our to make a true stand.

So I have more questions on this than answers!

Connected seems so passive. I like the term quickened.

"The modern-day gospel says, 'God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. Therefore, follow these steps, and you can be saved.' Meanwhile, the biblical gospel says, 'You are an enemy of God, dead in your sin, & in your present state of rebellion, you are not even able to see that you need life, much less to cause yourself to come to life. Therefore, you are radically dependent on God to do something in your life that you could never do."-David Platt

Yes, I have OSAS listed as #2 in historical importance!

#1 is cessationism, which drastically affected the whole world.

Sorry, you'll have to use your imagination to figure that one out!
Hint: re: spiritually and physically both!
Apologies to ye olde infallible Tommy, of course.

Yes, absolutely ... as long as you choose to stay "in Christ".
This involves simply continuing to repent of your sins
as you continue being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

And please, no losing of your faith, no falling away, no habitual sinning,
no refusing to co-operate with God's Spirit, no converting to Islam, etc.

Then, you'll be remaining "in Christ".

Actually, those like you who Judaize the Gospel, who want to have us saved by mixture of law/Grace have hurtfar more than either OSAS/Ceasing of the gifts!

And FEW here hold to all gifts ceasing from God, we just hold that the Ones the Apostles received were unique to them and ceased with them!

God chose me to be saved by jesus, to be sealed by his HS, so what part can i do to remove myself from the relationship with God again?

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

    You posted...

Well, you just articulated a FALSE GOSPLE. a works based false gosple.

    From the scriptures...

"He who has the son, HAS the Life, and CAN NOT pass into judgment, for he has passed from death unto life."

    Here are some more..

John 10:28 'His sheep have been given eternal life—they shall never perish'

Eph. 1:3; 2:6 'They are already seated in the heavenlies in Christ'

Eph. 4:30; Rom. 8:23 'They are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption'

Col. 3:1-3 'Their eternal lives are forever hid with Christ in God'

Because Because of our faith in Christ, we are 1oo% secure. inspite of our
    failings.

What a great God and savior we have!!

John says they didn't. They left so it would be plain that they were not saved.

One hold to loss of salvation has a real possibility in a believers life ONLY if they hold that we came to God ourselves, by our free will, and so in that sense, we can chose to undo the coming to god part!

I don't subscribe to that however!

Yes, great enough to give us free will and never take it away. Hallelujah!

Not so. They were as saved as you are.

Then in that case, what do the salvation-losers do with this passage?

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Christ says "I never knew you" not "I knew you once, but I don't know you now."

If you are in Christ, and Christ is in you, if you know Him, and He knows you, if you have believed on His name and been saved, He knows you.

If at the judgment seat He says "I never knew you" that means you NEVER had salvation, you were never saved, you never believed on His name, you were never in Him, He was never in you, you never knew Him, He never knew you.

How in the world do you know how saved I am (I do appreciate it though...I know how you feel about us 5-pointers)?

Upon what do you base your assertion that this person was genuinely trusting in Jesus?

See my first answer inside your post.

On many things, but I see no need to go into it, as nothing can be proven on a forum. However, I am firmly convinced of their saved status.

I'm not asking you to prove one thing or another. If they've left the faith, that's all the evidence I need.

What I'm after is why you were personally convinced of their salvation. One of the things I'm learning quickly in my current place of service is that talk is cheap and in the churched south, the right words are easy to come by. The proof, as James would say, is in the puddin'.

IMO, the whole of this discussion can be summed up
by simply heeding Paul's many warnings to ... STAY IN CHRIST!
