Okay, bought new strings and a tuner, I’m going to pull my guitar out of the closet and learn to pick.
I’m sure it’s as easy as they make it look.

Anyone heard of slack key guitar-style? Some songs come up on my Pandora. Very pretty. This is called “Kohala Medley” by Sonny Lim.

Thanks for posting this. I've got a CD of slack key guitar music from when we were in Hawaii on furlough from Japan. We had a supporting church there--tough duty, but someone has to do it. :Cool Anyway, slack key is a unique sound, and I like it. In fact, the CD is of the Lim family as a I recall, and I think it has this song on it.

I have several stations set up on Pandora based originally on various acoustic guitar artists - Nathan Salsburg, Norman Blake, Dan Crary, Adam Snider, John Fahey, Jim Henry&Brooks Williams, Paul Johnson. However, over time they have all come to sort of play a lot of the same songs based on which songs I give a thumbs up to. :Biggrin

This song by Jake White - "If You Could Hie To Kolob" - is actually a Mormon hymn, so the lyrics are full of bad theology, but the tune itself is beautiful.

I guess while on the subject of Mormon hymns, here is another one I came across a few years ago - "O My Father" - by Ryan Tilby, which is lovely and which I also found a version of on the Internet with the lyrics sung - awful theology but this guitar version and the version I have with the lyrics sung are so pretty. You might recognize the melody as a Christian hymn, "I Will Sing of My Redeemer", which is usually sung at a faster pace.
