There was no report of fact. No question. And this is the most important point from the outset.

Continuing to conflate rumor with fact by ignoring the distinction is obfuscation. There was no report of fact, only of rumor. There was no report of fact to reach the president, and evidently no report of rumor ever reached him. Had a report of rumor reached him, there would be nothing but rumor to act on.

 

Really, you are the one who doesn't get it. None of this should have been leaked to, or published by an irresponsible, subversive media like the NYT.

The leak was illegal, regardless of whether the report was fact or rumor. Official comments regarding such leaks of classified intel do not have to reflect what is known.

 

Where liberals and leftists miss the boat is that it is the Democrats who have been close to Russia from FDR and Cordell Hull to Biden. The GOP from Taft and Patton till now have always disliked Russia. So Trump's base would not put up with anything from Putin. It is Germany and Obama who liked Putin.

 

More like historical facts that the Democrats have always been closer to Russia. Even the New York Times covered up the Russian-caused famine in the Ukraine. And the Democrats had glowing accounts of the wonders of life under Stalin.
