Maybe we just need a sticky poll where anyone can check when they are so inclined to see what everyone one believes about wine and Calvinism and all the other hot-button topics.

When a noob is ready, they can add their beliefs to the list.

The Word of God stands true. It says in moderation.

How could it not have been alcoholic? Was it just grape juice? When scripture says do not be drunk with much wine, is this word wine differ than that of John 2?

God tells us not to even look on it in the Old Testament and then Jesus "makes" it in The New? I think something is wrong here........and it's not with the Scriptures. I think the same people that drink in moderation and saved in moderation.

Jesus, being both Prince of Peace and King of Kings would not have disobeyed the Old Testament Scripture.

Kings and princes were forbidden to drink wine. Oh sure, there were some who rebelled and drank anyway. But they were in disobedience when they did.

Scripture nowhere says do not be drunk with much wine. Not sure where you got that from.

But it does tell us we are to be sober, it does tell us not to experience wine that is fermented. If you take one sip of alcoholic wine, you are experiencing it.

Wine in the Bible could be fermented or non-fermented... depending on the context.

Many cannot comprehend context when it comes to wine. They want to compare wine 2000 years ago to that which is produced today and say all wine in the Bible is alcoholc.

    Sad.

My alter-ego, Language Cop would like to add his [IMG] to this thread. LC?

"The 'full proof' way to avoid a hangover would be to remain drunken.

The 'fool-proof' way to avoid a hangover would be to not drink anything alcoholic to begin with.

And I would offer that anyone who is full of "proof" is definitely a fool."

    Signed, Language Cop

To be "saved in moderation" is found in Matt.7:21-23.

    Eph. 5:18 And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

My apologies, I should have referenced it.

How true. If so one would clearly see that when Jesus turned water into wine that indeed it was wine (in contexct of course).

John 2:10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

The reason that the best was first was cause after having a "few drinks" one would not be able to tell the difference from the good wine and the not so good wine.

People question your being here because much of what you say is a crock.

Just so people don't complain about my word usage, here ya go:

crock4 [krok] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
    –noun Slang.
a lie; exaggeration; nonsense: The entire story is just a crock.
[Origin: orig. unclear, though often taken as a euphemism for a crock of *edited*]

    Take that however you wish.

We are kicking a dead horse. Why argue the Bible with people that don't study and twist Gods Word to condone their sin!

    So true, KJVkid.

I will refrain from posting in this thread further as it is falling on deaf ears.

Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
